bad as a body of work for her standards is still a solid pop album a good chunk of it does feel like anyone could've released it though, so it lacks her characteristic flavor on several songs

knowing how to work with your instrument + strengthening what's there is an underrated skill, and i think she did a fantastic job of that for a good long while. she also had a lovely and expressive tone for the first like, two decades-ish of her career, and that really helped her work be so evocative.
