  1. Plus, didn't Spotify have a huge exodus of users after the ICE ads? This, coupled with the stronger filtering and changed algorithm, makes me think there's a case to be made for Spotify being less relevant these days idk. Separately! Maybe this is a dumb question, but is there a way to guess what the AM numbers would look like based on their positions? I'd assume similar overall numbers to Spotify, given the slightly smaller base and higher positions.. annoying that we don't have the numbers to compare tho
  2. Oh Britney. I want to give her a big hug. She deserves safety, respect, and genuine love just like we all do.
  3. I don't really follow streams, can someone give the tea on the issue w Spotify's streaming counter? I can't tell if these numbers are good lol
  4. ARIANA. I don't think any Ari album has hit this quickly for me. Somehow these soundscapes remind me of the Love Me Harder video; warm orange haze that obscures your sense of time and place. I know that realistically all most of the pop girls have this left-field/artistic side to them, but I think the pressures of an insane entertainment industry and fame and capitalism complicates that. It's astounding to see someone as successful as Ariana Grande be unapologetically creative and in love with her craft. Like, wow. We're lucky.
  5. Say what you will about DMF... he always makes me giggle!!
  6. neuwiafjdh no I have never used it so I can't vouch for its effectiveness... but I live in fear of Ms 503's comeback
  7. I saw on Reddit that the geriatrics over at DataLounge are starting a new forum based on a yearly subscription service that they're crowd funding at ~$5/year per member. I'm the farthest thing from an expert on this stuff, but could something similar be an option for ATRL? edit: the hosting service is called Xenforo
  8. to be honest this MSG wedding with its 400lbs of chicken nuggets and Krispy Kreme truck is the dream of a car dealership heiress from suburban PA.... but the fact that I even know these things means it didn't flop bc I haven't voluntarily sought out any info on this lol. and I feel like we will be seeing the three-part Taylor and Trav wedding special debut on Netflix or HBO in a few months to pay those fast food vendor invoices
  9. deserved!!!!! I saw a post describing Olivia as a 24yr old Gen Xer and it seems she even has the insane selling power that Gen X girls did back in their day
  10. IDK I have hope for the album! Even if BYL is a bit of a rushed collab, LS is better (and I Feel So Free washes most of her output 2010-onward to be fair). That said, I feel like older artists have a different mentality towards singles than current pop girls and that shows in the rollout of this album. Like, M came up in an era where getting a radio hit was the ultimate album promo, and it feels like she's chasing that with BYL — as opposed to just dropping the full body of work and counting on her fans/name to stream — which leads to singles that are a bit less interesting than the full album. I mean I'm just speculating, maybe it will be full of BYLs.. but I think M still has smth better up her sleeve
  11. none of these are points. you are just describing the realities of a changing market for music. like, look up how many tours grossed $200mil+ before 2005 (which is the era that Britney toured in). not many! it was a different industry! tickets did not cost as much as they do now bc greedy billionaire parasites like Taylor hadn't enshittified the industry quite yet; artists made their money from selling music instead of gauging soccer moms for $2000 nosebleed tickets. Taylor isn't making more money because of popularity, it's because she has an insane profit margin. secondly, it is very rare for an artist that has been inactive for almost the entire streaming era to have an album chart for more than a year. when Britney was recording and releasing music of her own volition, the charts measured sales, not streams. a completely different metric! charts tracked initial interest; today, they track sustained consumption — when you stream, you help an album chart, so the BB200 measures what people are currently listening to. back in the day, it was measuring what people bought. a fan could listen to BOMT every single day, but that didn't reflect the album's success as far as the BB200 was concerned. this is also why you see so many longest-running #1 records broken in the streaming era. it's much easier to do now, because every listen counts. then again, you called norah jones a fad, so that kind of tells us all we need to know about your perception of music history... but I digress!
  12. meanwhile she was one of the first major celebs to speak up about Palestine lol like ??? Ari has been using her platform to raise awareness about the ongoing genocide (just as she promoted voter registration on tour, spoke out against trump with swiftness, etc etc) and that's what counts, not a courtesy photo with someone at an event
