L.E.S. Girls made me so emotional in a way I wasn't expecting when listening to the album. Madonna has always showed glimpses of her inner world in her music, but this is one of the more honest and vulnerable musings she has ever done, at least since Like a Prayer. Thinking of the 67 year old woman looking back at the ruthless young girl she once was hustling all the way to the top of the world, it felt like a reflection of the impermanence of life and even her own mortality, in the end. What a melancholic way to close an album, I was totally not expecting that

Performative or not, Billie is putting her money where her mouth is at least. The problem isn't that people should depend on celebrities to form an opinion, but how many of these artists make big profit on being "woke" but stick their hands underground when it's time to actually do something that won't boost their sales.
