Love Miley's voice and I think the new album is great. But one of her biggest problems has always been a lack of self awareness - particularly in some of the things she says. I imagine it's because she got famous so young, like that old idea the age you get famous is where you're developmentally stuck forever… and before a Stan melts down, it's not about her not having the agency to decide what she does with her career. It's literally just the way she expresses herself sometimes. The world is burning, a millionaires little problems are not important.

Genuinely incredible, I was so moved watching the clips last night.

It was quite camp - she was like "ALRIGHT BUT THEY GOTTA CHANGE THEIR GUITARS, so bossy!" 😂

I think it's ultimately Addison is camp, Tate isn't. There's a wink wink nudge nudge to Addison. I think there's also a sincerity to Addison that gives her a relatability. Tate however is clearly an incredibly talented, athletic performer. But not as relatable, not as camp, not as FUN. That's how I see it anyway.

Seeing her so soon now. Still so gagged all it took for her to have a new career peak was total control. I can't imagine the validation this must have been for her instincts as an artist and to get to reclaim the older songs in such a special way.

So I actually really liked Love for Sale. I thought the incorporation of Tony's drawings and the muted tones of their outfits quite beautiful. But I just really enjoyed that album, it's my comfort go-to. (especially because of the livestreamed release show she did for it). BUT I think Harlequin's was the most visually inspired. It was her pulling together 'Gaga' and her jazz leanings into one place. Really did feel like her gearing back up and led into Mayhem beautifully.

I think it hits so hard because we literally remember her growing up too (because some of us are quite close in age and grew up watching and listening to her). Such a beautiful way of capturing a relationships early days, of growing up, of time passing etc. The gem of her discography and honestly my fave on the album. Would make an incredible closer for her show.

This does make me see her situation in a new light tbh. I feel for her - too many artists end up in similar situations and get trapped.

I mean it was still a smash - and she's unsigned. Huge hit single, no 1 debut, massive arena tour etc. Seeing her perform the album live before it came out was AMAZING. HOWEVER, I will say, the album didn't have the same appeal for me as her previous. It felt like it was trying too hard to be inspirational in a way that didn't ring as true or honest as her previous material. I enjoyed it, but a bit too cliche for me to come back to beyond WTHIMH.
