Between new rules allowing catalog albums to continue charting after going recurrent and decreased competition at the top, it's been much easier to sit inside the BB200 in the last decade.  Still, this is quite the accomplishment.

Adele’s music is very much pop infused with soul. Our black soul artists need to start making commercial music. They’re just not talented enough to write a song like Rolling In the Deep that crosses over, unfortunately. There’s a reason many black soul artists look up to Adele. It’s their fans that have the problem 

 

As soon as a black artist does write a commercial song, they get success. Just look at Cardi B. The song is ghetto as hell, but it’s good and commercially viable 

 

Rihanna, a black popstar, gets commercial success because she makes commercial music, like Adele. It’s not Adele’s fault that people are actually invested in her artistry and feel the urge to buy a quality album
