SIENNA SPIRO - 'Visitor'

Featured Replies

Autumn leaves is a cover .

I had a feeling that was the case, but the Autumn Leaves included on the deluxe edition is a cover of the classic jazz standard! It's famous for performances by Bill Evans and others, but originally, it's a chanson composed by the French Joseph Kosma

15 tracks. Looking like a front runner for Best New Artist at the Grammys next year too!

I find it fun how each new pop girl picks a different color background for their breakthrough project: Olivia - Purple Sabrina - Blue Tate - Black Gracie - White Addison - Yellow And now Sienna with t

I love Sienna and I've obviously become a big fan since the beginning of the year. The album is solid and has such beautiful moments, but overall she's got a lot of growing to do in finding her own unique style and sound. I feel like this old-school sound may have been too big a pair of shoes to fill.

In today's music landscape, it's also important for artists to come across as relatable and authentic, and I think she's still finding that balance.

She's only 20 and on her debut album, I cannot wait to see her evolve through the years.

Besides the singles, Pure and Mono No Aware are my clear standouts. This Is My House should've been longer! heart

I still can't believe she scrapped 24 and Frank's Encore… the latter being better than half of the songs here

#2 on New Music Friday in the US.also has the cover over Madonna who is #1.

After listening, I can say that I thought she sounds beautiful in every song. The vocals were great and I love that she's moving to incorporate live instrumentation (especially those related to classical music) at such at young age. My problem here was the songwriting mainly.

It seems like Capitol made her team up with Omer Fedi, maybe because they were close in age? He has great work, but I'm not sure if he was the best fit to make her songwriting abilities, identity & versatility shine here. I hope she can have more freedom in who she can work with in the future because this album somewhat comes off as just finishing an "assignment" for the label rather than exploring and establishing a distinct sound for Sienna. She needs more experienced producers or an opportunity to work with some industry veterans chick3

Standouts: Mono No Aware, We're Not in Love, This is My House

tried listening to this but don't love it.

it lacks direction and rather feels like a bunch of songs put together instead of a traditional "album".

I do think she is a very captivating and talented singer.

i agree all of the songs kind of blend together but her vocals and ability to emote is so captivating i really dont even care

im just so mesmerized by her performance that it makes up for the material which i have no doubt will only get better with time

Sienna really is another addition to the list of incredible UK soulful women, the US wishes they would produce such talent kukai

Yeah I agree the songs kinda lack her own flavor but He's Not My Baby, I'm His is easily the standout out of the new songs

getting average and some negative reviews from critics, 62 on Metacritic atm. I was hoping for 70s, but I was already fearing this would happen. She needs to find more of her own sound on her next album, right now it's very old-school meets Adele

we needed more Emile Haynie songs, Omer Fedi is cute but very one note when it comes to her kitty

Kinda semi-negative reviews

The Guardian: 2/5

Rolling Stone: 3/5

other sites gave it better reviews.

Spotify numbers from the UK could have been better . Summer might not have been the best time of the year for an album like this.

Kinda shocked the Guardian gave it such a low ranking. It's not excellent but a 4/10? Thats low.

I don't know. I like her and she has some good songs, but these nachos have already been reheated once or twice chick1

She needs to build up some identity

Definitely. This is such a Spring or Autumn album, too bad they didn't have it ready around the time they dropped The Visitor (song), it was the streaming-peak of DOTH too...

love her but yeah idk this doesn't deserve better ratings rip this sound has been done a trillion times before by a trillion different artists, and she didn't even do it that well, I feel 5 more songs would've done wonders for the album
