Do you order from ghost kitchens?

Are you aware of ghost kitchens or virtual restaurants ? Do you order from ghost kitchens ?

A virtual restaurant, also known as a ghost kitchen, cloud kitchen or dark kitchen, is a food service business that serves customers exclusively by delivery and pick-up based on phone and online ordering.[1] Virtual restaurants are stand-alone businesses that either operate out of an existing restaurant's kitchen or from a separate kitchen set-up away from a restaurant.[2][3][4]

Ghost kitchens have gained more attention lately because many ghost kitchens are run by chain restaurants so the costumer is tricked into ordering something that appears more local, and tend to take up many slots on delivery apps, outcompeting actual local places.

Examples: It's Just Wings + Maggiano's Classic = Chili's, Meltdown = Denny's,  Pasqually's, = Chuck E. Cheese, Conviction Chicken = TGI Fridays.

Not all ghost kitchens are made to be deceiving, there's businesses that are open about being a virtual kitchen, and not all ghost kitchens operate multiple food brands out of same kitchen.

There is a business called Ghost Kitchens, or One Kitchen, which is a chain of ghost kitchen "restaurants" that carries many well known food brands. You can pick from whatever food franchise you want, and it'll come out from the same kitchen.

What do you think about this ? Is this the next step in our dine out/food delivery habits ?

Yes! one of my favorite places to doordash is virtual only. I think it's a great business model for them and is fairly affordable due to less overhead and kitchen costs especially in a time where everything is inflated

Yes, but only if it's a small business and not those ghost kitchens owned by Mr Beast, Tyga, or Snoop Dog.

HELL NO

if I see something new on door dash I haven't seen before I will ALWAYS good the address to see if it's a real place not a ghost kitchen.

I think those places are fraud

I didn't know that Tyga had pull like that in 2025 :suburban:

Oh they are called dark kitchens here and they are a huge issue. They will usually rent a very big place, put hundreds of different "restaurants" there, making food 24/7, constant traffic of motorcycles, strong smell all day and night, etc.
