  • Girl, you can't be serious with this. She has some incredible body of works in her discography. They are nowhere near to mediocre. Yes, she has weak albums (Version Of Me, This Time) but Northern Star

She's doing things differently this time. At some point there's going to be a press release announcing that she's signed to a new label, new film (she's gonna be in rebel Wilson's new film) and new music. She still has ownership with red girl but universal is handling everything. It's slightly different. Id say this is major

Kind of hate that she has gone major again, but if it is her choice, then I support her.

I'm totally with you but I really want her to succeed and do well and for that to happen she needs a major label. I can see her having the same success as Jessie Ware. You can tell she wants to build on the success from the last album

I wouldn't say she needs the help of a major label or music music corporation (i.e., Universal Music). She has always had some level of success as an independent artist; I mean, Melanie C did exceptionally well. She used the funds from her Spice Girls reunion tour exceptionally well. I am just wondering if it is simply Universal Music she is with or if she is with a subsidiary label (i.e., Capitol/Interscope, et al.).

Can't wait this sounds like a total bop! I'm excited for this new era/album from her!

I really ain't feeling this...

I guess it will give her a bigger slot at Mighty Hoopla and if thats' what she is going for then, good for her. But this sounds like a cheap attempt at leaning into souless camp and there are already so many pop girls doing that...

I'll reserve judgment until I see the full thing but it doesn't sound promising at all... It always baffles me how some of them (mostly Mel C) will rather do middle of the road crap like this rather than getting into the studio with the group...

She has been anti-recording new music since Forever, to focus on her solo work. It's fine of course, if it makes her happy. But the results have been so mediocre over the years... Her last album sold similarly to the one before, only boosted a bit in sales because of the larger amount of variants.

I hope she gets what she wants from this, I really do. But damn...

Im so here for it! ready to get fit with her. this is sporty spice essence

It is well known she has always been the stumbling block to making new music, since 2000 and specially after 2007 reunion.

maybe cuz she wants to be her own artist. Putting the girls together is a recipe for corniness and mom syndrome. It just wont work in this day and age.

Melanie has always been keep her music youthful and hanging out with current electronic artists and being out on the scene.

The other girls are not that grounded and into music anymore.

But she's been one of the most supportive members in the recent years tho.  Yes, she was kinda weird around This Time era but she would be the first one to record a new Spice Girls record now I think. It's probably always Geri put a stop on things.

funnily enough the other girls were the ones who were pushing for new music both in 2016 and then during 2019 with some of them even mentioning they were thinking and looking into producers (Emma mentioned in an interview this after the tour), whereas Mel C was always 'no music'...

And Chris has mentioned that Mel C is the stumbling block here, so they are reduced to a nostalgia band only... It sucks though...

It's her decision. But lets not say that she has mantained a 'youthful' music... it's ok to like it of course, but it's been nothing 'new' or fresh. Her last album might have been 'fresh' for her standards but truthfully I would rather hear what a Spice Girls at 50 sounds like than Mel C doing another DJ-set type of music...

It's well know this is not the case. Mel C does not want to go into the studio with the rest of the girls, she only wants to tour. Geri doesnt want to tour but has often been up to the studio process over the years.

It is what it is...

so the video leaked, gone now. the song is MUCH BETTER than i expected! the sample and the bridge of the song is the best of it.

this could be very big for her!!

I don't understand this at all.

She would rather do new music on her own than with the Spice Girls. She would rather do the reunion concerts, which would be scheduled and then done. Get a bit of money from that and use it towards projects she prefers doing. She has been very vocal about her displeasure with the last time they recorded music for the 2007 greatest hits album.

I don't like what I've heard so far. :gaycat6:

PERCHED though.

I guess she is only interested in touring so she makes a **** ton of money and can use that to fund her own solo career (because that alone doesn't pay her millionaire lifestyle lol)...

To be fair, she has mentioned before that she is scared of 'tarnishing' their legacy but I feel like without new music at all, all they are is a nostalgia band, and that sucks... there's so many times you can justify a tour on a large scale without anything new, specially when it comes to a band that has only 3 albums (and they only acknowlege the first two lol)... Plus, it is not like Mel C has put out this incredible body of work throughout the last 20 years... most of it has been mediocre to crap, so...

It sucks. But it is the way things are with them for a while...

Yeah the recording process then was awful, they were all separately doing it - Emma, Geri and Mel C in the Uk and Victoria and Mel B in LA. But they are now all in the same place, so it is about them getting their **** together.

I would LOVE a Spice at 50 type of album. That would be an incredible and unique thing for a girlband to do.

They should really start acknowledging Forever. The 25 year anniversary edition of it is a letdown. nothing new. That is how you start to tarnish a legacy, by doing cash grabs

exactly... I really wish they would get back to the studio again and then go touring... Another nostalgia tour will not be as well received as it was in 2019... and since then we had a huge amount of bad merchandise and mediocre-to-bad anniversary releases of their music.

they probably need a new team that will incentivize them to get back in the studio, with old and new producers...

Northern Star is great and Beautiful Intentions has cute moments, but I would trade them all for a new Spice album.
