    You usually need to be a big celebrity and/or have the right industry connections to win without sales/chart success.

     

    Overdue veterans also have another possible route to a Grammy win, although Bonnie Raitt was an former AOTY winner, so not 'overdue'. So maybe we can just say veterans can get a second chance. Veterans also have industry connections in many cases, so there is some overlap there.

    So glad no one mentioned my queen.
