Yeah the gap's between Aug 16 (UK) and Oct 18 (Taiwan). That is when Blackpink tends to release their projects (Pink Venom was released Aug 19 followed by the album Born Pink Sep 16)

 

This seems to be following The Album's release strategy

- How You Like That: Jun 26, 2020 (first single end of Jun - early July)

- Ice Cream: Aug 28, 2020 (2nd single mid to end of August)

- Lovesick Girls: Oct 2, 2020 - to coincide with album release (final single & album release in mid-Sep to early Oct)

 

MTV VMA will take place Sep 7 which is perfect timing to promote the 2nd single. I wouldn't be surprised if they perform at VMA (they performed Pink Venom in 2022 and Lisa performed New Woman/ Rock Star last year)

There was an article about them completing the album jacket photoshoot a month ago so surely album is coming
i was hoping a release on August 8th (their debut anniversary date) but since its only a month now i doubt it and probably more like September/October

ideally the whole album would be out already now that the tour has started 
but atleast sth like this would have been fine:
30th May: Single #1 (Jump) + pre-order notice
4th July: Single #2 (debut at concert in Korea)
8th August: album release (on their 9 year anniversary)

 

It makes sense why they are holding back the album until before the 2nd leg of the tour 

 

The first leg of the tour (Jul-Aug): South Korea + Western countries (US, Canada, UK, France, Italy, Spain)

- Blackpink is niche popular in Western countries. They want to promote the old music and the girls' solo careers.

 

The 2nd leg of the tour (Oct-): Asian countries

- Blackpink is mainstream superstars in these markets. The fans will listen to new album and sing-along those new tracks

 

This way they can

- Maximize the album sales in Q3 (more lucrative than Q2)

- Satisfy the long-term fans in Asia with new music in 2nd leg of the tour. Also make sure the music is fresh for fans to enjoy. Create new products, increase demand for tour tickets in their strongest markets

- Strengthen Blackpink brand and introduce the girls' solo careers in Western countries (markets where they are niche popular but not mainstream popular). 

 

Fully expect the 2nd single (Aug? release) to have their signature Ddu-ddu-ddu-ddu sound as that is the single aimed at Asian markets

May this be the ONE album that they actually work with entirely new producers outside of YG? If that's the case I hope the girls secure collaborations with people YG passed on like DJ Snake, Tiesto, Steve Aoki, Zedd, Afrojack, Mark Ronson and having actual worthwhile features like Jeon Somi and Ariana Grande

I agree they shall have released it inmediately after the first Goyang date. It would've been Saturday still in most markets, could've done massive numbers.

 

I still believe this will do the same even with a Friday release this week. But they need not to go further down the line - the sound calls for EU festivals domination. I'm pretty surprised … they legit have the biggest sounding hit in their hands since HYLT.
