Honestly I think I'd only rank this above High Road. Maybe above Cannibal if that's isolated but not as a package with Animal. Gag Order and Rainbow and Warrior are just too good idk

I honestly get surprised by how much people like Warrior. Its a good pop album I suppose but the pop songs on the album feel so generic, and you can feel that Kesha was really forcing herself to just write some cute bops without any of the personality that was on Animal (Out Alive, All That Mattes, C'mon, Wherever You Are etc.). There are some standouts of course but as a whole the album doesn't really fit that well together for me. I mean you look at Animal, Rainbow, Gag Order and even Period, they feel like fully-realised, cohesive bodies of work, whereas Warrior just feels like a bunch of songs slapped together, some of which are very Kesha but then don't fit the vibe of the rest of the album, and the others are just extremely generic. Also I just don't think I could ever get past the hideous covers.

I can't rank . Because it's too new but my current and mostly unchanging ranking is:

I remember thinking when Warrior came out that it missed a lot of the personality and attitude on her first releases. Warrior is great but I definitely agree with this

I think it has to do with how much all the die hard stans had been anticipating it. It soundtracked my life at that time. I've never replayed an album that much. It could be sort of mid but it just meant too much to me and thereby became an all time fav.

Just finished, literally every song is great I didn't dislike a single track

4. Warrior (this one was always kinda in the bottom half of my Kesha album rankings partly. i always loved this album but also felt the album itself was tarnished because of what happened to Kesha behind the scenes during this era and its recording process.
5. Rainbow (theres some songs on Rainbow i love but REALLY dont think deserve to be placed above any single Warrior song at all)
6. High Road (i love this album from start to finish since day 1 (though i usually skip Kinky and it took me a year to appreciate Honey)

I was going for African safari meets 80s-90s kids show intro, but now all I hear is Zoo Tycoon and I can't unhear it. I'm absolutely sent. 

Finally had time to sit down with this and wow, it's really solid. I agree with reviews -- messiness is what makes it work. It is a FUN record and it reads as very self-aware while bordering on cringe and camp and it toes that line very nicely. It accomplishes what HR set out to do and I think that's because she's in a better place.

 

Obsesssssed with Too Hard/Love Forever and so happy she tried on this style of song. Slide was one of her better leaked tracks and it's great to hear her embrace breezy pop/rock like this. I have a feeling these will be my most replayed (they (along with Cathedral) also sound the best on vinyl). Red Flag is an instant smash, deserves to be #1, the BEST straightforward pop song she's done since DY. Freedom is cute and a really interesting track but I want to have a word with the people who suggested it's as good/better than anything on Gag Order. 

 

Glow has been an earworm and a standout track for me. I love how light and bouncy and unserious it is. I can't get the "You won't listen to this song, you're too cool for pop ****" line out of my head. It's kinda her artist statement. Surprised more people don't like it ddddd.

 

Cathedral is one of the best songs in her discog lowkey and I can't believe I had the audacity to call it a snooze after the TEDx performance.

 

I still don't care much for Delusional/The One/YKY but I understand their place on the album and The One is serviceable as a nice slice of millennial power pop. I still think YKY is the hit that got away, and again, becomes serviceable in the context of the album. Also, it's a great showcase of her hitmaking talents. While some of the songs may sound "outdated" because they evoke Rachel Platten fight song tease, they're still anthemic and catchy and radio friendly. I will not comment on Delusional.

 

I am not surprised by the polarizing response amongst fans but it has been really rewarding seeing the positive reviews and casual listeners/people that stopped listening after HR/GO reconnect with her because of this album. I think it's her best attempt at straightforward pop since Warrior and it is lowkey a lot more earnest than that record which makes it resonate a bit more. 

 

My current ranking is: Gag Order > A+C > Rainbow > Period = Warrior > High Road

HOWEVER! her discography is so f*cking consistently awesome that she seriously doesn't have a subpar project imo. High Road will always stand out to me because of its emphasis on a melancholic surrender to escapism. that's what's really woven into the album as a whole. like she's said, and like I've said in various places on the internet, . is kind of what she wanted and was trying to do on High Road  and I feel like . accurately achieves the return to partying Kesha and more. but yeah, for me Gag Order and Rainbow are truly top tier and unbeatable! 

Trashman is a bop (of course) but thank GOD it's nothing like YKY, y'all had me worried  love the flow of it, so smooth even with the chaotic instrumental (which I love haha).

 

Also I'm surprisingly love Boy Crazy with Jade! She bodied it.
