Dark Miracles Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) Chappel's album was such a letdown for me GLB is a night perfect Fleetwood Mac hommage, the rest of the album served nothing like that. I think I only liked 2 other songs Edited January 1 by Dark Miracles
Ken Lee Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Happy to see many of Sabrina's weaker songs make an early exit Messpresso next #JusticeforNoSimulation

Graves Posted Sunday at 08:02 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:02 PM HIGH SCORE 9.5 x 1 (redsing707) 9 x 3 (Ewan Chaos, Terylee, Meloetta Carey) LOW SCORE 4 x 1 (K$Ellie) 3 x 1 (305) A pensive number, on which Tinashe warns her partner (or perhaps herself) of all the red flags they're displaying. Though she's able to sum up a quick list of all of their issues, she finds herself ultimately unable to leave for good - still coming back for more. This chilled out R&B jam leads smoothly into the following track, Cross That Line, really creating a sort of doomed/forbidden love theme in this part of the album. Lovely track, but rather on the short side. Curaga: "So cool, but it's a little lacking. It's kinda like a long interlude." Ewan Chaos: "Oooooooh the Final Fantasy vibes." Invisibility: "I actually hate how nothing happens in this track, sorry." Moonlight Nation: "I love the moody production and Tinashe sounds beautiful, but it feels more like an interlude building up to the next song - a transition which flows smoothly sonically but doesn't quite work as well thematically. Melodies are also more forgettable compared to the rest of the tracklist."
Ewan Chaos Posted Sunday at 08:02 PM Posted Sunday at 08:02 PM I think I can be around for a few eliminations
Graves Posted Sunday at 08:07 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:07 PM HIGH SCORE 10 x 5 (Ace Reject, Terylee, Frappucino, 305, Invisibility) 9.5 x 2 (greento, GreatestLoveofAll) LOW SCORE 1 x 1 (Dark Miracles) 0 x 1 (Curaga) A song that gagged everybody when it launched back in June. Sabrina was riding high on those Espresso streams, and everyone was quick to brand this a poor single choice. They said she'd ended her hype before it even began... only for Please x3 to blow up just as big as the former song, become a viral TikTok clip, and even scoring Sabrina her first and only #1 to date. Wow. Forum homos never get it right, I fear. As for the song itself, Sabrina pleads with a raucous boyfriend to behave in public when with her - don't embarrass me, *****. The video starred boyfriend-at-the-time Barry Keoghan as an ex-con that Sabrina tries to keep on the straight and narrow. It's a cute time, and the country flourishes here are a lot of fun too. It grew on me a lot after that shambolic first listen. Curaga: "The way this absolutely rode the coattails of Espresso to hitdom... reaallly don't like this one." Ewan Chaos: "Grew on me, but otherwise eh." Ken Lee: "Jack really did his thing with this one." Invisibility: "More pop girls should be emulating the Swede Pop print. I can totally hear someone like Susanne Sundfør on the chorus." Moonlight Nation: "This sentiment resonates deeply with me... let's just say that. The inspired country-tinged production and the humour only contribute further to my enjoyment of the song. It also has one of best mainstream pop videos of 2024." 2
Ewan Chaos Posted Sunday at 08:12 PM Posted Sunday at 08:12 PM Red Flags too low, UGH yall don't appreciate ART PPP, absolutely rode the Espresso coattails. Still bothers me that it hit #1 and Espresso didn't even snatch #2 1 3
Graves Posted Sunday at 08:12 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:12 PM The girls just do not like country Sabrina
Graves Posted Sunday at 08:14 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:14 PM Just now, Ewan Chaos said: PPP, absolutely rode the Espresso coattails. Still bothers me that it hit #1 and Espresso didn't even snatch #2 That is one of those weird chart anomalies you get. I get more annoyed at Espresso being below Benson Boone and other straight nonsense on the year end charts, personally. Like... idk what 2024 those people had, but mine was very Sabrina! 1 1
Graves Posted Sunday at 08:19 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:19 PM HIGH SCORE 10 x 2 (Julia Fox, Ewan Chaos) 9.5 x 1 (kimberly) LOW SCORE 3.5 x 1 (Ken Lee) 3 x 2 (Graves, redsing707) Charli's ode to the nasty, problematic girls. Won't go into the rather disappointing inspiration behind this track, just know it's just as vapid and thoughtless as the song itself. This is, I guess, a very "brat" track for an album with such a name. But in all the worst ways. I find the worship of the mean girl concept to be boring, and online Regina George types are tired and a little pathetic. Watch another film, I beg. Neat piano interlude though. Rev8: "It's funny how people thought this was about Taylor Swift." Curaga: "That piano bit is completely fuckiing genius omg. I know some people say the lyrics totally ruin this song, but they don't bug me at all (probably because I don't know who Dasha is and don't want to find out!)" Ewan Chaos: "The way I'm not even allowed to enjoy this song anymore. Because of woke (jk kinda but it seems to be super underrated these days, the piano still HITS)." Invisibility: "It was an initial highlight, but the novelty wore down really quick. Would work as a cute throwaway 360 b-side or something." Moonlight Nation: "Those piano riffs! I am aware some of the real-life inspirations behind the song are… problematic at best, but I find it easy to divorce the context from the song itself, which is peak brat. Lots of memorable lyrics and melodies." HIGH SCORE 10 x 3 (Julia Fox, GreatestLoveofAll, Frappucino) 9.5 x 1 (Ace Reject) LOW SCORE 3.5 x 1 (Ewan Chaos) 2 x 1 (redsing707) Charli spends a moment reflecting on some of her past, lamenting some of the lost freedoms and the simplicity of her past life, while also wondering how differently her career could've turned out. It's an interesting look into the mindscape of an artist that otherwise always seems so forward-thinking and fearless. I like the 'harder' edge to the production on this one, but it was never seen as a big Brat standout by the fans and is treated as an interesting curio at best. Curaga: "Love that small crowd cheering sound after "deserve success" lol." Invisibility: "This song coming right before the SOPHIE tribute, sob.." Moonlight Nation: "Quite an underrated one, but I understand why it gets less love compared to the top-tier excellence surrounding it. Strong production and overall sentiment."
Ewan Chaos Posted Sunday at 08:25 PM Posted Sunday at 08:25 PM Surprised Mean Girls even got this far nn I'll take it! Rewind, obviously a great track but probably my least favorite (on the standard)? So I'm glad it's one of the earlier ones out. Cute nod putting the Sucker album there instead of the Brat one :mindofamastermind: 2

Graves Posted Sunday at 08:31 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:31 PM (edited) 11 x 1 @Quicksand HIGH SCORE 10 x 4 (Julia Fox, Terylee, GraceRandolph, brokee) 9 x 2 (greento, makeawish) LOW SCORE 2 x 1 (redsing707) 1 x 1 (jacklovesyou1) "Busy woman ... my openings are super tight." Filth! The other deluxe track on Sabrina's record, not available on streaming yet. A shame to be relegated to a limited format like vinyl, as it washes a good 70% of the album proper. It does the Sabrina shtick well - a cute bop with some filthy undertones and fun lyrical quirks. It's no Juno or anything, but still a fun song nonetheless. I guess I'm wondering if physical deluxe tracks should be this good, to make the package more appealing, or if they should just be on the album proper... you know, to make sure it's as strong as possible. Hmm. Meloetta Carey: "This really sounds like a bonus track but it also has GOOP teas." Ewan Chaos: "Wait the way she's lowkey putting on a Chappell wig with this song... And it works... So many crappy songs on the standard she could have removed for this." Moonlight Nation: "Both bonus tracks deserved to make the album proper. This one's groovy as hell featuring Sabrina's signature playfulness alongside vocoders, fun synth work from Antonoff, and vocals!" Edited Sunday at 08:36 PM by Graves
Graves Posted Sunday at 08:42 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:42 PM HIGH SCORE 10 x 3 (Terylee, Frappucino, Curaga) 9.75 x 1 (Ace Reject) LOW SCORE 5 x 5 (Quicksand, Into The Void, Saddy, wish, redsing707) 1 x 2 (Julia Fox, glitch) A lot has been written about Sophie in the years since her death, but Charli possess one of the only viewpoints I care to hear from in that regard. Another soft moment on Brat, So I acts as Charli's final tribute to her one-time mentor and inspiration. Admitting to her own insecurities and regretting her inability to be a better friend, it's one very emotional track. She's not only addressing Sophie the icon and artist, but also the human being that she knew behind the curtain. It's a track that cuts right to the bone for Charli, even taking a moment to reference Sophie's own It's Ok To Cry. Curaga: "Gutted me the first time I heard it omg. "Now I really wish I stayed..." " Moonlight Nation: "A beautiful and vulnerable tribute to the late SOPHIE and Charli's relationship with her. The remix only elevates it further as a bittersweet complement by honouring the good memories they had together."
Graves Posted Sunday at 08:48 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:48 PM 6 minutes ago, Terylee said: WTF PPP being already out. It was always a little bit underrated, even when it came out, but I fear some people never got over that initial distaste So I, on the other hands, should be about ten to fifteen places higher imo.
Graves Posted Sunday at 08:53 PM Author Posted Sunday at 08:53 PM HIGH SCORE 10 x 2 (Meloetta Carey, redsing707) 9 x 1 (kimberly) LOW SCORE 5 x 3 (brokee, Julia Fox, glitch) 4.5 x 1 (Ewan Chaos) On Cross That Line, Tinashe looks at her partner and suddenly sees a future with them, with a family and kids, and she realizes that she's actually very happy with that idea. She can envision a happily ever after with this person and wants to continue with them. It culminates with her admitting that she might be falling in love. It's kind of a wholesome song, especially coming after Red Flags, but it is a nice time. Nice enough, at least. Moonlight Nation: "Such a wholesome sentiment. Love the subtle Jersey Club elements in the production."
