i actually listened to party over again after posting that and it wasn't as bad as i remembered, though still the worst of her first three songs imo

 

yeah xenomania chasing trends like edm in the early 2010s was not it and it makes me never want new GA music because it would probably be a mess. xenomania's fall off in quality is only matched by will i am going from songs like don't lie to big fat bass

Although you have to admit All Fired Up and Not Giving Up were massive bops, and I think of Go To Work with Nadine Coyle as the ultimate guilty pleasure.

this reminded me to check on how CuteBad are doing but they haven't released since early 2023 or posted on insta since summer 2023 hotseat was kind of ok but we need the mid-2000s pure pop magic or the late-2000s electropop magic back instead

I heard Hot Seat on Pop Justice and while I think it was solid, it doesn't compare to any of Xenomania's best stuff. I think the current club sound in the UK is not as conducive to great pop music as it was in the 2000s. Need more guitar-based pop back, that's what Girls Aloud really successfully incorporated.

it's labelled as explicit but it's actually the clean version, the real explicit doesn't seem to be on spotify so you have to listen to "shove your no strings" unless you want to go on youtube

I thought they hadn't produced Not Giving Up (I recalled All Fired Up, Get Ready Get Set, and WAYF as their only Saturdays songs), but I checked their production discography page on Wikipedia and it listed Not Giving Up as a song they had produced. Someone's getting fired!

 

Unpopular opinion but I looooove What Are You Waiting For. Probably top 3 Saturdays for me.
