There was a distinct type of music that I like to refer as "Spotify sound" that was pretty popular on the platform way before all the algorithms and the nasty autoplay took place. Not sure about these examples specifically but a spotify sound definitely was a thing at one point, they had a bunch of like commissioned background music sprinkled everywhere

I think the algorithm Spotify was working with in 2018 or so was a little bit better than what they're using now imo. Could just be me

I never knew this. The songs I cited were usually the type of songs that would play after I had used up all my skips as a free user.

I thought 'Spotify sound' might refer to the Lauv-like minimalistic pop sound tbh. I really like Sirens, tho, so I'm not mad about it  The rest is kinda harmless
