The narrative has changed since Whitney passed (as always happens), but Mariah could do much more with her voice and sang FAR more difficult songs. She not only had the range (connected or overall), b

This fan fiction.    The narrative has never been anything different. Whitney has always been the universal standard.

I am ******* screaming at that vocaroo. There’s no way you weren’t at least giggling while typing that you sang that with no problems

I quite literally stan Whitney and she’s one of my top played artists on Last.fm. You’re just out of your depth in a vocal discussion - as evidenced by your inaccurate claims throughout this thread. Claiming live performances were lipped, complex songs were easy - then backtracking on both - not understanding pedagogy.

And for you to mention objectivity when your account is literally only dedicated to trolling and baiting is…wild. I don’t know why I even bother.

Your "vocal analysis" are just copied and pasted from some source while you attempting to come across as an expert. You fooled no one, especially with the disdain you displayed when speaking about Whitneys voice. You were called out by someone who actually does know their stuff. I suggest you hang it up at this stage and let the results of the poll speak for themselves.

The nodules are probably acting up this week.

Notice you ignore discussions of vocals and specific terms in favor of your conspiracies of “who I stan.” I didn’t copy and paste anything - I’ve both studied music and sung. :rip:

I just happen to be significantly more educated on vocals than you. So what?

No, you don't. You have never said a single positive thing about her ever.

Thats a lie and why are you relitigating my stanning history. It’s creepy :rip:

Anyone that claims that the only thing Whitney Houston was good at was "changing the tempo" doesn't know jack sh*t about vocals.

Who exactly do you think you are fooling ?

I never once said Whitney only changed the tempo or that she had less than stellar musicianship.

Yes. Whitney had more volume/power, but Mariah could also be powerful but with so much else. Unmatched dynamics, agility, etc. I’d also say she had better resonance since it was throughout her range extending into even upper belts. Whitney’s mid belt resonance was unmatched but to hear Mariah doing it in phrased fifth octave belts  or in low notes as a soprano was so wild.

That’s not a better example of IWALY - she got a bit sloppy with pitch and cracked going for an upper belt.

Flawless performance. To think she sung that 144 times on the bodyguard tour is simply astonishing.

...and here I was expecting a sing off between you guys and nothing.  :chick3:

but I loved reading the comments. :gaycat2:

Whitney didn't lip sync nor played prerecorded playback, let alone forgetting lyrics and messing up an entire new years eve show. And of course has a stage presence.

I can sing My all without any problems so I am certain Whitney would have done it in her sleep.

For traditional singing, Whitney is better than Mariah. Her tone and power in her singing range are just perfect. Whitney also commanded the stage so much more than Mariah.

However, when it comes to pure technical vocal abilities, it's Mariah hands down. She can do the same songs as Whitney plus more. Whitney's voice is not that unique - there are so many singers that can replicate Whitney's, but Mariah stands alone with her vocal abilities.

Both incredible vocalists and are both queens! Love them so much

For me Whitney is the better vocalist but Mariah has better discography.

I performed on page 1.

I am still waiting for feedback on Circles.

This is the most delusional post of the nite - quite a feat. There is no singer on earth who could match Whitney Houston tonally.

Tone is subjective though. JHud could easily match her vocally.

There are tons of people out there who could perform her songs with ease.
