Funny how she thinks of herself as a “rebel” and her fans call her a ”revolutionary,” but she was a coward and pulled this amazing music video when Bush invaded Iraq.  A million Iraqis died.

She chose to be a rebel but her kids didn't. She actually had to be responsible for other people at that time, as hard as it is to comprehend.

She wasn't in London. She was in the US where pro-Bush, pro-war sentiment was overwhelming. The Dixie Chicks' career was over because they said they didn't support Bush, can you imagine what would happen to Madonna if she released a video with graphic killings and Bush and Saddam lookalikes? Her and her family would be lynched. Easy to virtue signal 20 years later with the benefit of hindsight, huh? Thankfully, she was on the right side of history even when it would take years for everyone to get on the same page.

 

Also, the naivete of thinking a Madonna music video would prevent the war or Iraqi deaths. The war had already started by the time the video would be released and it was one of the reasons she pulled it, it would be pointless.

It is such an incredible video, so thought provoking, detailed and well made. 

Judging by that one user here, maybe ATRL registration should be permanently closed...for like forever. We don't need this kind of energy in 2024.
