Melanie Martinez released her third studio album 'Portals' 9 months ago.

What are your thoughts on the album & era today?

Definitely will keep coming back to this at least until her next. I have been getting into it bit by bit, just heard WOMB for the first time and it made me play DEATH immediately after. A solid project with fascinating concepts.

saw her live twice. the album is so good, the outros on the songs are excellent. deserved more

The 1-2 punch of Death > Void was something I was not expecting  I completely skipped her 2nd album and the EP that came after it, so I thought she was coming back for blood. Then the album came out and it was a letdown overall. Evil and Womb are the other 2 songs that I some times come back to.  

 

happy for her and her stans tho. The album was a success (first week at least idk how it did after that).

it was an 8/10 upon release, and now its maybe a 7/10. i still play the album, but she really fumbled this album when she left out more of the leaks like Needle & Thread, Dragons Blood, Fingers Crossed, Garden and Magnets and released Moon Cycle and the Oliver Tree diss tracks instead

what she should have done was release how the album was pre-break up and then after the break up released the diss tracks

Tour was amazing, Evil, Tunnel Vision, Death and Void have great replay value. Will do better because she has a Crybaby rollout and we are getting video for all standard edition songs.

i love the concept of the album and her costume for this era

 

the songs have really strong melodies and the production is solid (and i know she handled most of it by herself!)

 

and VOID is my most played song of 2023 

Its a good album, the hate it got from Lana stans was really undeserved
