Underrated Peaks?

Featured Replies

Evanescence Fallen

Sold over 17m copies, amazing catalog sales. Had 2 big hits (Bring Me To Life and My Immortal)

Amy Winehouse Back To Black

A vinyl classic, didn’t have any smashes but the album tracks and singles all have great stats, sold around 17m in the digital climate

Born To Die

A vinyl/streaming classic, smashed in Europe and Latin America until the US later recognized it. Video Games was a smash in Europe/Latin America. Sold as much as Bad Romance and We Found Love in markets like Germany and France.

Any other examples?

Pink was still a pretty big hitmaker in the late 00s/early 10s. She might not have been on the level of Rihanna/Lady Gaga/Katy Perry but she was still up there with them

I would say Leona Lewis' Spirits era. The album broke many records esp. in the UK. Sold 8M copies worldwide. Bleeding Love was a worldwide smash, even went no.1 in Japan, only 2nd song to top UK, US and Japan.

I think one good reason why it seems underrated because BL grew bigger than Leona herself. She then disappeared and upcoming stars like Rihanna, Gaga, Katy Perry took over the charts by storm.

New gen should know how big Leona was back then.

Norah Jones, Come away with me literally outsold any other female album in pure sales in the 00s despite its genre not even being radio friendly or commercial, won aoty and don't know why won soty and roty... even feels like home was a huge(albeit forgotten) success, debuting with over 1m units in the us and selling over 10m pure sales too

Aqua.

- Best selling Danish music act ever

- Served unique vocals

- Surprisingly deep lyrics on their 2nd album Aquarius

- High effort videos that feature plotlines and different scenery

Multiple hits across the UK and Europe, and they broke the one hit wonder definition in the US.

their peaked lasted a year tho lol

Enya. A Day Without Rain sold over 16 million copies, and she's sold over 80 million records worldwide despite being virtually absent from the mainstream music scene and despite the fact that she has never performed a live concert.

I'd definitely say Anastacia from 2000 to 2004 and Robbie Williams from 1997 (with the release of "Angels") to 2005.

They were selling well without having any success in America.

Dido had impressive album sales for her first two releases. Often overlooked!

Didn’t her debut break some sales record in UK? It’s weird how forgotten she has become

Alicia Keys/P!nk

Both huge artists, but they're not really talked about among stans.

I wasn’t alive then but Tracy Chapman’s debut album

A black folk singer selling 22M in the 80s is pretty insane. Her success was kinda similar to Norah and Adele’s in that she was basically the anti-Madonna/Whitney with her stripped back style.

The way she exploded all around the world after that Nelson Mandela performance too :jonny5:

yes and Kelly Clarkson

My ultimate fave, Dido.

Her debut, No Angel sold 15M WW and her sophomore album, Life for Rent sold 12M WW.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun and Time After Time probably are more iconic than any Madonna's songs :jonny5:
