Beyonce - XO (Appreciation Thread)

Let’s talk about this almost ten year old lead single from the iconic self titled era that received lukewarm reception compared to the other songs of the era. Despite the contrversy and how the general perception at the time was neutral to the song, I thought this deserved a reappraisal thread because of how it aged so well according to today’s musical climate. Are your feelings for the song remain the same? Or have you turned a new leaf on this misunderstood melancholy?

So much nostalgia for this song and video

Very underrated

Super unpopular opinion but I actually really like it and prefer it over Drunk In Love. Bey-Z have made better songs than that one.

:clack:

It truly is an underrated song. I just love the message, the lyrics and the vibes of XO. One of my favourites off ST

This song has such a melancholic sweetness to it. One of my fave pop moments from Bey :smitten: It deserved to be a big hit!

this has always been one of my favourite beyonce songs of all time. it's a rare moment where she is vulnerable, almost carefree, and deeply in love. it's truly so beautiful.

your heart is glowing, and i'm crashing into you

baby kiss me, before the turn the lights out

My favourite song by her, it feels so triumphant and grand and optimistic and euphoric :clap3:

Weird way to describe it, but it makes me feel love. It has a communal feeling, Beyonce's response to Together Again and All The Lovers.
