The song is smashing everywhere. But it sounds so safe and mid to my ears. Far from a highlight in her singles discography. Anyone agrees?

but it literally sounds like a filler album track reject from PH  just saying it’s surprising this is becoming one of her all time top 3 smashes.

Since the beginning, Doja has a way of turning sleepers into smashes + with the hold she has on TikTok.

People will say “…but TikTok”.  But “Attention” was TT viral and it didn’t translate to streams. 

 

I think with the right song, and label investment…she we bound to have something smash.  
 

I mean, Doja has had 2+ years of back to back hits…and is one of the most streamed artists on Spotify.  Top 10 female? Or something like that. Shouldn’t be THAT shocking I don’t think.  
 

But yeah, it is a very mellow song.  Shows that not everything has to be in your face, hard, and controversial to do well.   

 

 

it sure is a bit weird how the song gets more daily streams by the day (it’s at 8m now like ) so there’s definitely some payola/autoplay at work but it’s a very fun, summer bop and it’s not like there’s anything more interesting out rn

I think people are resonating with the lyrics about not giving a **** about what people think of you and being your authentic self even if it upsets other people, which is all further heightened by her recent controversy.

I do think it's hilarious how she went on and on about art not the charts and not making disposable pop anymore and testing the real fans only to smash with a PH reject right after. Good song but she remains pretentious and annoying. At least she has the talent to back it up.

It’s a great song. Nothing odd about it

But the truth is, the song is catchy. It’s infectious and people resonate with it. It’s easy to digest. 
 

When people like the music, they’ll stream it.
