Smile, obviously, except for the cover.  

 

Perfect Illusion was the worst MPG lead single of all time, and that's still the record.

 

Plus no song on Joanne can compete with NRO, HIH, Cry About it Later, and Teary Eyes. 

When Joanne dropped I wasn’t happy but it grew on me after a few months.  Smile never really clicked with me :(

I have a fondness for both of these albums, I think I slightly prefer Smile, although its low points are lower than Joanne's. And Joanne singles body Smile's -as does its album cover

NRO and HIH alone are pop masterpieces, and then you also have CAIL, Tucked, CP… 

Dancing in Circles,Diamond Heart,John Wayne alone **** on whatever Perry was attempting with that "other artists reject retrieve" album 

Joanne is a better album. Smile has some gems and Joanne has some stinkers but overall Joanne is more consistent. 

 

Katy could have been a contender for singles if she picked different ones but she didn't and I don't think any of the Joanne singles are actually bad. 

 

Joanne wins cover for me too.

I use a few non-single songs from SMILE, though.

Perfect illusion is my favorite modern Gaga song (only behind paparazzi in her discography) but Harleys in Hawaii, Tucked, NRO >>>

Cry About It Later is better than Joanne (album) so Smile wins by default. 

One of these albums has Harleys, NRO and Tucked.

Hard to choose as both are honestly unlistenable. 

Joanne aged terribly, and I'm a big Gaga fan. I voted Smile for Better Album and Better Singles but the Joanne cover is better than Smile. 

People really do too much on Smile. It's actually a decent pop album. Daisies, NRO, HIH and Cry About It Later are really great pop songs.

I do like Joanne too, it's so much better than Chromatica and Artpop, for me anyways. But Smile >>>>>>>

Joanne has great first half and stellar songs but it's inconsistent in tracklisting (why is Joanne on first half...) and tries many things some more successful than others imo. I really loved Perfect Illusion, and was expecting the album to be similar... Other great tracks are of course Diamond Heart, John Wayne, Joanne, Dancing in Circles.

 

Smile suffered from the clown image which doesn't suit the album in my opinion, and the released singles aside NRO and HIH are bad... Again, whats similar with these albums is the first released singles Perfect Illusion and Never really over - both great and I thought the album would be in similar vein... I did like some of the songs on Smile (Tucked, Harleys in Hawaii, Cry about it later). 

 

I'd choose Joanne, just because I like the mentioned songs more. But I do wish they both had went full on with their style, like Katy with NRO kinda vibes and Gaga with Perfect Illusion/Diamond Heart rock vibes...
