Arena vs. Amphitheater Tour

Featured Replies

What are the pros and cos of these two types of tours?

It appears Amphitheaters can have higher attendances (due to ample lawn seating), but Arenas tend to have higher grosses.

Amphitheatres are such an American thing :rip: They look like a nightmare to me. Arenas all the way.

Never heard of amphitheatre :rip:

Arenas look better and more secure. Just imagine the mosquitoes in amphitheater :rip:

I'm totally guessing, but I think this may be because arenas have more "premium" seating options while at an amphitheater the whole lawn section usually goes for arena nosebleed rates (or cheaper).

they both have their pros and cons. I enjoy amphitheater shows in the summer for artists I'm not particularly passionate about. it's a cheap ticket to go have drinks with friends while live music is being played. over here Live Nation has lawn passes or discounted lawn tickets in the summer, or sometimes they offer BOGO deals.

arenas are much better for artists you like/stan. a GA floor ticket is usually what I try to go for, if it's available. the sound system is better, the atmosphere is better due to lighting, and the production value of the show can be higher because there's no risk of outdoors elements interfering.

Arenas are the best I don’t even like

stadiums though. theyre outdoors and 10 times the traffic

I love both. Arenas feel like more of an event and usually have bigger artists. But amphitheater concerts can sometimes feel more fun if it’s a beautiful summer night and you get a breeze and can see the city skyline. It’s a really fun way to sing along to an artist you love, it just adds a bit more atmosphere.

We don’t have this option in the UK. All our music venues are in doors. In the Summer parks are used for festivals. But we don’t have ampi-theatres. I would like to go to an ampi show one day though.
