Can you engage with the topic at hand (the video and the ideas contained within it) instead of ad hominem attacks? It’s inappropriate.

Not her stans acting like Katy, Britney, Beyonce weren't smashing in 2008 too :deadbanana2:

Cringe!!!

She didn't change the world at all. Maybe she changed some people's world, in some ways, but definitely not the whole world.

Did you guys watch the video? The arguments are laid out well.

The part about ''Britney having a breakdown in 2007 so people wondered what's next in pop music and the question was answered when Gaga debuted'' like... Katy, Britney, Beyonce, Gaga were all smashing in 2008, not only Gaga :michael: Britney in 2007 was smashing with Gimme More, she was smashing in 2008 with Womanizer and Circus :michael:

Sure, but Gaga’s debut was the most impactful for the reasons listed in the video like the changes to fandom culture, the stark difference in how political conversations were handled by pop stars by highlighting Britney’s apathy towards the Iraq war, and the changing relationship with celebrity and fashion.

Perhaps the title would be less cringe-worthy if it were How Lady Gaga Changed The Pop World.

she made billboard change their rules a couple times

  • when she sold her album for $0.99
  • when she bundled her album with underwear and a tour she knew she would have to cancel

Um... Britney had her own problems, why would she care about politics during the worst time in her life?

Britney's debut with Baby One More Time is definitely the most impactful debut of all time. The aftermath was insane

What changed politically or culturally because of BOMT?

Telephone inspired my country to approve same sex marriage. Thank you Lady Gaga :gaygacat3:

Britney reinvented pop, 90s were a time of boysbands and mature vocalists and thanks to Britney and BOMT labels started to looking for pop girls so basically girls after her Britney owe her career cause without her labels wouldn't take risks and signing pop girls but Britney proved that they can be successful

it basically reinvented pop music as we know it today, britney became the blueprint for the modern pop idol the way madonna did it in the 80s

Listen I’m not delusional when it comes to any of my faves - and lord knows Monsters are just as guilty of being as delusional as the Swifties and BeyHive - but be real. After Gaga came on to the scene, everyone started dressing campier, crazier, and putting more effort into videos (for a time), performances, etc. She made female pop stars step it up.

You can think she’s a flop or that her music sucks or that she can’t act and that’s all totally valid because it’s your opinion and opinions can’t be wrong. But you gotta give Gaga that. She had impact.

What is up with the video acting like Lady Gaga invented being nice to fans…? And then cutting to Mariah every single time it’s talking about celebs not being accessible when Mariah was literally calling us her lambs since like 2000 and even would leave voice notes and stuff to communicate with us back in the day before social media was a big thing :deadbanana2:

Madonna, Cher, Grace Jones and David Bowie were doing all of these things before Gaga was even born bffr :ahh:

You’re reading way too much into it. The point about an overall more democratized artist/fan relationship is made crystal clear.

Imagine if she performed The Cure during that "one world" covid concert. She would have ended it right then and there.
