3 years ago today, on March 20, 2020, The Weeknd released his highly anticipated 4th studio album 'After Hours'.

 

Apart from not only becoming his most acclaimed album ever (at the time) and turning many new people into Weeknd fans, it was also the centerpiece of one of the most memorable album eras in recent memory:

 

 

 

The album yielded 4 singles, including the mega-smashes "Blinding Lights" & "Save Your Tears".

 

 

 

The album was also fully realized visually, with many music videos, animated videos and a short film.

 

 

It also had many notable live performances during its promotional cycle, such as…

And while the album and its singles were notoriously snubbed by the Grammys, it did go on to win many other awards, including 1 BRIT Award, 2 VMAs, 3 AMAs, 3 iHeart Radio Awards, 5 Juno Awards & 10 (!) Billboard Music Awards.

i thought tame impala was on SYT :’( 

At first I wasn't ready for it, but after a few listens it became my favorite album of his We're gonna pretend the animated videos didn't happen tho x

 

 

Escape From LA, Faith, Blinding Lights, Too Late and Nothing Compares are classics

I'm so glad we got to experience this amazing era. Dua and him really carried us through covid. 

 

It's such a great and ambitious album and the performances were all so major. Save Your Tears at the BRITs and the medley at the 2020 AMAs are literal masterpieces.

 

I'll never understand the Grammy snub; he could have easily swept all big three.
