Is this award where NCT and StrayKids will sing together?

Poor doyoung, first D&G and now McDonalds.

The good thing is koreans don't care about anything/anybody outside their country.

It could be worse... CL and Alexander Wang in the peak of the scandal.

that’s okay the smasha that you are…

a win for @Mitsuki :santa:

I came here to talk about it :chick3: can't wait for the cover!

EXO is probably the group Stray Kids has covered/danced to the most. So far, Growl (2x), Overdose, Love Shot, Call Me Baby, Baekhyun's Love Again, Wolf and now Kyungsoo's That's Okay.

What is unexpected, cause they couldn't be more different from each other. :deadbanana2:

They won't perform together the way we thought. They will have different special performances under the same theme "Love & Peace" and SBS mediaplayed as "collaboration". Unfortanely, cause I'd love to see a real collaboration.

Due to Minnie and Shuhua sickness, the I-DLE and Le Sserafim special stage I AM FEARLESS is cancelled. I-DLE only pre-recorded Queencard Christmas Remix.

Oh I was excited about the collab, it was too good to be true

The world isn't developed enough to handle this noise excellence

Maybe in the future when we grow as society

Why does everyone always use black and white outfits in year-end red carpets? It needs to stop

Whew okay I'm gonna rant here but TL/DR: Korea is currently a doomed, ignorant, self-centered country (that is yes slowly progressing to be better) that  generally doesn't care about issues/topics that don't pertain themselves. At the same time the news of Starbucks/McDonalds boycotts hasn't fully reached the Korean GP yet.

Regarding Starbucks, McDonalds boycott: Korean GP does not use Twitter the way other countries do. People in Korea will assume you are either a "SJW" or a "anime/k-pop stan" if you use Twitter. (Twitter is not even used for memes in Korea and instead K-GP go on Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok.) And even in these stan/left-leaning activist circles of Twitter in Korea, the Starbucks boycott hasn't fully reached them yet.

So unlike us where we can see people retweet and repost on Instagram stories/Twitter news of what brands to boycott for Palestine, Koreans usually only see who the prettiest K-actress is, latest meme, newest makeup/dance/fashion trends, etc. on Korean IG, YT, TT, etc. (Also online infographic sharing culture is not a big thing in Korea. People usually drop petition links.)

The social/political stuff that we do see right now online in Korea is mostly related to continued physical attacks on Korean women/feminsts, bunch of weirdos that have desecrated a historical building, talks of our tyrannical presidents after a recent historical movie hit box office success, disabled activists protesting against the ableist public transport system (with a good chunk of Koreans upset at these disabled activists for causing traffic jams in subways and making them "late to work/dates" smh). And underneath Korea's domestic issues is what is happening in Palestine or in the world outside of Korea.

(Side note: This lack of western reach in current Korean internet circle is also part of reason why western acts are such flops now in Korea compared to 1960s - 2000's back when The Beatles, MJ, Beyoncé, Britney, etc. ruled over Korea. Unless they recently broke out as megastars in Korea for some odd reasons like Anne-Marie, Chloe Grace-Moretz, Charlie Puth, and local Danish singer Christopher who has only charted in 4 countries... Denmark, Sweden, Germany, and South Korea. :skull:)

What about the major news channels and papers? They are regurgitating the same rhetoric from pro-Zionism western media. All of this has amalgamated into the Korean public not fully knowing about what is happening in Palestine and specifically what brands we need to protest.

Then there is of course the fact that generally Korean people don't care about any issues outside their own and don't spend time or energy to feel to research things/or care out of their comfort zones leading them to continue being some of the most ignorant bitter people in the world in all senses.

Fortunately though, there is an increasing amount of Korean people that are pro-Palestine as it's a country going through struggles that we can relate too. There are people actively protesting in Korea too but they are a minority compared to the vast majority and there is a good percentage that even these protesters may not be aware of the specific boycotts of companies like Starbucks, McDonalds. They are protesting because they are passionate enough to look beyond superficiality and are actually morally upright enough to actively protest on the streets. Good on those people.

(There is the also the messy side of some activists in Korea tending to not being intersectional. A good chunk of K-feminists are TERFs that don't really dwell on other issues, gays in Korea not caring about feminism/themselves being misogynistic, etc. But this is a convo for another day. :gaycat7:)

Monthly listeners:

EVERGLOW = 2,3M

ZEROBASEONE = 1,5M (despite them just having a comeback)

EVERGLOW is a much more established group with more songs in their discography and a more dedicated fanbase, so it's no surprise

Both groups are also pulling the same amount of daily streams right now, despite ZB1 just having a recent comeback.

EVERGLOW's discography - 29 songs (excluding remixes)

ZB1's discography - 11 songs

The fact that so-called "flops" ZB1 are pulling the same daily streams as your girls is.. interesting!

The fact that ZB1 has sold over 2M albums, and yet can't even surpass EVERGLOW's 4th most streamed song with their TOTAL NUMBERS after ZB1 being active for 6 months with 2 albums is indeed questionable.

Not a surprise here either, boy groups have always sold more than girl groups

Again I am not comparing song to song, but ZB1's total career stream numbers to 1 EVERGLOW song :gaydonnacat1:

Well... maybe because LA DI DA is 3 years old at this point, while ZB1 are fresh out of the womb?

Forevers stay in school

Anyway, Merry Christmas! :heart2:
