New Edition Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 It's true. K-POP fans are so pathetically competitive and live vicariously through their faves. The only reason why ATTRAKT has ANY support among K-POP fans in the West especially is because of jealousy towards Cupid's success. 1 3

Bighit kept pushing him as 4th gen it boy and kept setting TXT up saying they'd get #1 on B Hot100 for this and that only for none of this to come true. I'm sure he's pissed. That never made sense to me. It was always clearly Soobin in TXT who had the appeal and chance of being an 'it' boy. 1

New Edition Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 So it seems the worst treated groups by SM are EXO and Red Velvet (I would have said fx as the clear winner but they are no longer under the company). Why is that exactly? Genuinely curious especially with exo because they were huge.

Why is that exactly? Genuinely curious especially with exo because they were huge. 1. They're old products. The Kpop life cycle to stop putting as much effort/money into old groups when they're trying to build their new groups. Why put money into something old when the company will make more money off the group putting less effort in. 2. Contracts. I'm sure RV vs Aespa have different contract agreements just being 6 years apart. Over the years RV might have met with SM to have slight contract changes, hitting certain milestones might change clauses in the contract to favor the artists (i.e. you sell a certain amount you get a bigger profit %), I remember when Got7 left JYPE news articles came out of JYPE telling investors that not to worry about Got7 leaving cause Got7's contracts favored the artists earning more money than the company. It was said the Niziu's contracts favored the company's profit %, so their profit in Japan would offset Got7 leaving. 3. The idols involved move into solo activities after years of idol promotions. Probably benefits the artist and the company. Yoona doing a drama and getting CF deals seems like easy money for the company and she probably takes more money home than singing on stage.

And the one that don't treat their groups like numbers are often worse, because entertainment is not their main field, they are just using that sweet tax deduction of promoting the country overseas. Edit: I will never forget when I was doing my Everyone vs. TS Entertainment lawsuit here and the tax deduction was an argument one director said to SECRET Hyosung, that it was one of the reasons they had so many groups. Meanwhile none of these groups had decent living conditions. Edited December 19, 2023 by Xalric
