Unless you've been living under a rock, I'm sure you've heard of how tragic Normani's solo career has been. Despite scraping some decently-sized hits with Sam Smith's "Dancing With A Stranger" and "Wild Side" with Cardi B, her so-called debut album is nowhere to be found. Instead, we've been getting once-a-year droplets and leaks of her scrapped songs. She has even been taken off of popular collaborations to protect her R&B "image".

 

Many people find it hard to place direct blame in Normani's mismanagement, as there is no sole cause. I've compiled a list of most reasons on why people believe Normani's career is at a never-ending standstill (If you can brainstorm more, feel free to add below.)

- Normani is "lazy" (some believe that Normani does not want to put out music)

- Normani's mother is sick and she wants to take care of her

- RCA is a bad label (although many artists signed after Normani have put out multiple full-length projects)

- Normani's team sucks (prevented her from hopping on Dua Lipa / Anne Marie / The Chainsmokers collaborations)

- The material is "mid" (Fair was massively panned, deemed "boring" and a "weak single" by ATRL)

 

If you were not aware of the above information, let's use it to answer this question: Do you believe RCA should drop Normani? Why or why not? Discuss. 

 

Absolutely. Those songs she did with Calvin Harris should of been an indication her voice is not interesting (or good) enough for her songs to click with people either. She had plenty of support when she dropped motivation too.

Normani has touring potential with her dance skills and anyway she already has mainstream brand endorsements under her belt!

Yes for her own good because they clearly are holding her back from realising her true potential. I feel like they’ve wasted her time so much that it’s probably too late, but if they’d fully invested in her and let her be the artist that she clearly has the potential to be she would have been huge.

I don’t think they should drop her. I think they should support & push her contract obligation to release music for next year.

If you include 5th Harmony and Normani solo singles, Normani has a lot of singles too. Some of her singles have had moderate and above success

They dont have a incentive to drop her when she hasnt even dropped a album

Kim has her own label troubles, she's released 30+ songs independently but now she's with a label and she's stuck.

No, because if you think about it, she's actually doing them a huge favor by not releasing right now. She's waiting for the right time to strike. As we speak she is honing her craft and putting pen to paper. The ball is in her court, and the timer still has 26 minutes on it. The team is dribbling the ball but she's about to score a touch down.

I used to be a huge harmonizer back in the day but even I lost all hope of an album coming for Normani (or any of the other girls atp)

 

it’s really a shame because I feel like Ally, Normani & Lauren all had potential to put out good albums
