Now that I think about it, why doesn't Ms. Brenda Lee do more promo and give Mariah a run for her money?  Girl needs some healthy competition. Anyone think Brenda could snatch the #1 reign from Mariah if she put some effort into it?

Brenda LEEgend recorded her hit at 13 years old. Mariah was cutting class and bumping Madonna tracks at that age.

Fun fact - the song went #1 for two weeks before the CD or bundle sales even took effect that year because the song was just that in demand. 

 

It's always funny to watch certain bases push the Brenda train each year just to end up being clowned by the end of things each time.

 

 

As if Mariah's promo had any impact on the song's success .

 

AIW started becoming a phenomenon in the early 00's, many many years before the streaming era boosting Holiday music and Mariah embracing the "Queen of Xmas" role.

She has a massive fraudulent Amazon deal which has essentially catapulted the song from being the 5th biggest Xmas song in the US just a few years ago to possibly competing for #1 this year. It's still unknown outside of the US tho, Amazon streams can only bring you so far.

As already stated, that "it's time" tradition started after the GP started mass-streaming AIWFCIY as the #1 Xmas song each November 1st.

 

You don't really get much more organic than AIWFCIY's slow rise to becoming the Xmas song.

I can post some great recent or classic performances if you were actually interested.

AIWFCIY going #1 every year and 50%+ of the Hot 100 being Christmas songs for 1-1.5 months every year now has gotten very predictable and kind of boring tbh. I’d be here for at least a little shakeup with Brenda being able to get herself a #1.

Let’s talk about how Natalie should be the one snatching a seasonal #1
