After shipping her album four months prior to its release date (causing it to leak and doing nothing about it), Atlantic decided to release Weapons as second single from Ava's sophomore album.

 

According to several people who listened to the album, Weapons seems to be the weakest song on the album. So why did they decide to make it a single?

 

 

Single choices this era have not been the best, but Weapons is by far the stupidest of them all.

idk but they really fumbled ole girl’s momentum. it seemed like she was on the rise and then this era was dead on arrival

They want all their artists to fail so they don't try 

Sometimes its more a management issue than label issue but who knows

I feel like her label gave to her many chances during the years with nice singles and videos, but let's be honest after 'Sweet but Psycho', nothing really took off, 1-2 songs became some minor hit in East Europe at best, but majority of her singles ended up flopping or being not event, she didn't even manage to build a minor niche fanbase a la Charli XCX, it's normal if the label at this point is not invested.

She lasted longer than most people thought she would, she is lucky to not be an one hit wonder tbh.

Her team definitely doesn’t know how to market her this era as evident by the piss poor single choices.

 

Ava’s sound is clear: anthems, carefree dance floor hits with an uplifting message that would smash on European radio. But they rather follow 2 year old synth pop trends with MYTP which is a horrible choice for a lead single

This one trick pony is fresh outta tricks I fear!

Considering all her most successful songs (Kings & Queens, The Motto, Alone, MH&MH) were big in Europe, I'm not sure why they try so hard to make her happen in the US. I guess it's the most profitable market, but they're really not doing her any favours.

They need to STEER away completely from the US market. It’s not for her and that is okay. She isn’t on MPG level and we all know that. She needs to expand her European sound more and focus on that
