Will This Ariana Record Ever Be Broken?

Featured Replies

Ariana is the only ARTIST in Billboard history to debut all her first 6 lead singles in the top 10 of H100 and she's definitely going to extend this record as long as she keeps releasing albums. Who will be able to break this you think? :nicole:

Olivia has the potential to break it. Who else?

"Old Town Road" didn't debut in the top 10, but I guess he could apply if we count the "MONTERO" era as his official debut.

OT: This might be one of my top favourite chart-related achievements ever, and I feel it will be extremely difficult for any other artist to reach it. Ariana had the perfect combo of getting a hyped debut single, a frequent release schedule to keep her name in the GP's radar, and ongoing sustained interest that only grew over time - not to mention the incredibly consistent quality and mass appeal of each of her lead singles. This record deserves more attention for how impressive it is - truly iconic! :jonny6:

It's not a lead single. Also, this record is acknowledged by Billboard so argue with them if you like.

Mariah: Visions of Love - Emotions - I’ll Be There - Dreamlover - AIWFCIY - Fantasy - Honey - Heartbreaker(that’s 8 #1s from each lead project)

The record is debuting in the top10 and unfortunately VOL for example only debuted at #73.

Vision of Love debuted at #73 iirc during the time Vogue spent its 2nd week at #1.

Its a remarkable record because it shows right from the start that: a. There was interest for her solo music right from the getgo and b. She has an established fanbase.

Its even crazier when you think that her failed lead single which has 1B on YT called Focus ALSO debuted Top 10 at #7.

All her lead singles always LAND with a punch!

What was it the lead single of?

People will just type anything without thinking :deadbanana:

Records are meant to be broken. With streaming we could very possibly have someone have their first 7 leads debut #1

Records are meant to be broken - I agree. But this achievement in particular is very reliant on long-term consistent success + first week support (for at least six studio albums) and the artist getting enough hype to debut in the top 10 from their very first single, which is an extremely rare combination.

I do believe artists like The Beatles and Mariah Carey (possibly Britney Spears as well) could have reached this had streaming existed back then, but even among the legends you can see few musicians would realistically fit the criteria for this record, as most typically start losing momentum by the time of their sixth project, especially when they take breaks between eras.

Just my brief take on it, of course.

IKR. :deadbanana4:

I don't think this record even exists because... Put Your Heart Up flopped extremely hard and you can say that the record is about lead singles from albums but still we have Focus and it wasn't a lead single from any album... It ended up being on Japan version on DW as a bonus from what I remember
