I read on ATRL that she went from selling 14 million to selling 2 million which is an 85% decline and she was only on her second album.

Not sure about everywhere else but in Mexico, Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti, Falsas Esperanzas & Ven Conmigo were big hits that year.

it was very local to the US, which is weird for a spanish album

It was a hit in Mexico. Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti is a classic. Falsas Esperanzas was the opening theme of a very popular telenovela

 

 

And Christina came to Mexico to promote the album and was godmother of the first generation of La Academia, the most successful music reality show at the time.

It sold 2 million copies worldwide. It's hardly "massive".  

 

Shakira's "Fijación Oral Vol. 1" sold 5 million copies worldwide (and 1 million in the U.S.) and it was released after Christina's "Mi Reflejo". 

A massive bomb compared to CA maybe.

it really was massive, and actual people in latin america know the songs and singles

But Oral Fixation vol 1 slays 

it's frontloaded, local and forgotten

Because the girls back then loved it so much. It had bops 

It served talent and vocals. 

Selling 2 million WW in 2000 is barely a notable accomplishment

Because it's one of the best latin pop albums ever made!

 

It has a little bit of everything: epic ballads: Pero Me Acuerdo de Ti and El Beso del Final; fun bops: Falsas Esperanzas and Cuando No Es Contigo; an amazing duet with Luis Fonsi; an amazing cover of a classic song; and on top of that new recordings of her singles. 

I can't say I've ever heard a single song from it tbh! Must have not been that big.
