I don't wanna jinx it but I think the leak will at most just affect his curiosity streams only and that can easily be supplied by physicals (they replenished the box sets today).

 

I just can't imagine locals hearing that an album that will be available to stream for free in their preferred streaming service in a few weeks has leaked and choosing to go online and scour the internet for a link. That's if they even hear about it, 90% of locals won't know. It's the hardcore fans and the pop culture followers that will know and investigate and who knows they might stream when it comes out anyway?

 

I expect his streams and digital sales to be slightly affected but I don't expect a massive decline in his potential first week. The leak sucks but I don't think it sucks as bad as I initially thought it would.

Falling and Golden's recurrent streams are INSANE. They weren't even big singles and they're both nearing 1M streams two and a half years after released. The album is overall being streamed at a rate of 6.5M A DAY with its original 12 tracks. It was the 7th most streamed album globally this week above even After Hours and Equals.

He's the 8th most listened to artist in the world with 25 songs. It's just incredible given how little music he releases compared to all the others in the top ten.

This is SO GLOBAL. I can’t believe it’s #1 on Spotify in Peru, usually songs in English get nowhere near the top 10 let alone #1 weeks after release. 
 

It feels like all the One Direction hype, all the hype about his last era, it’s all coming together now with a super worldwide Smash and he is one of the most global artists we’ve seen in a long time.

As It Was could easily shape up to be a massive longevity single tho, releasing another one before the album would really mess up with it. I think Late Night Talking could go #1 regardless of when it's released.

 

I do think the label had planned on releasing two singles before the album because they had two videos ready but idk that I would go along with that plan given AIW's reception. I would probably let it grow on its own and stall whatever the second single is till AIW has had its legs.

Not an ounce of aggression in this message, please don't take it the wrong way, but I just don't think 1D is a factor in his success at this point. Plenty of people don't even know he was in it. I think he just built it on Fine Line + solo performances + the IT factor.
