AFullMoonlight Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Y’all need to touch some grass. It’s beyond weird how some of y’all only come in here to post the negative things y’all see on Twitter or to post the same thesis paper every 4-5 business days.

The Representation Project found that the most common double binds prominent women* experience on social media include receiving comments that they are overly confident, yet insecure (84%) and being called lazy, while also being told that they are overly ambitious (80%). "I know what it feels like to be criticized and doubted, which I experienced in my music career," stated Normani. "I have since started discovering who I am and am embracing this stage in my life where I am able to express myself the way I want to and not because of anybody else. By owning my personal style, it has encouraged me to continue on this path as a soloist and create a new album. I am honored to be partnering with TRESemmé, a brand that believes in championing women's personal style and the power that it brings, to officially launch their 'Power Your Style Project' and empower women everywhere to express their unique styles so they can achieve more and be their best selves." About Normani Normani exudes and emanates the kind of confidence you can only earn. The multi-platinum chart-topping singer, songwriter, dancer, and philanthropist speaks her mind through unshakable anthems spiked with style, soul, and spirit. With sky high ambition and a work ethic to match, she consistently progresses with clarity and without compromise. The New Orleans/Texas-raised talent rose to international renown as a member of pop juggernaut Fifth Harmony, performing to sold out arenas, gathering awards, and releasing a string of multiplatinum hits. In 2018, she kickstarted her solo career with the quintuple-platinum "Love Lies" [feat. Khalid]. She joined forces with Sam Smith for 2019's "Dancing With A Stranger," reaching quadruple-platinum status and marking her second Top 10 bow on the Billboard Top 200. Following the platinum "Motivation," she linked up with Megan Thee Stallion for "Diamonds" from the blockbuster soundtrack Birds of Prey: The Album. Meanwhile, she ignited 2021 with the platinum "Wild Side" [feat. Cardi B], which ascended to #1 on Billboard's Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart. NPR predicted the latter "pushes the Fifth Harmony breakout star one step closer to pop sensation." In between tallying billions of streams, she garnered six BMI Awards, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, a MTV VMA, and a Soul Train Music Award. Along the way, she has also given back at every turn. The Cybersmile Foundation tapped her as Diversity Ambassador, while the American Cancer Society named her a Global Ambassador. Now, she embraces her poise, passion, and power like never before on a series of 2022 singles and her forthcoming full-length debut album. Normani is managed by Brandon Silverstein (S10 Entertainment, Management Division). She did get together with a brand in order to release Fair, so I wouldn't be surprised if this brand deal will also come with a new single. But this section about her is literally a copy paste of her 'About Normani' on Spotify since Fair was released lol sorry

Not saying this is the case, but based on posts from the last page you think her label is sensible to not release Candy Paint or support her future releases and that she should have to seek brand deals, take out loans for videos, and continue to find outside avenues for financing her music because why again? I'm trying to understand the thought process. And do you think this alternative route makes it easier, or harder for her to release?

It’s beyond weird how some of y’all only come in here to post the negative things y’all see on Twitter or to post the same thesis paper every 4-5 business days. What I don't understand is how one can root for an artist and then after things don't go as planned, argue that the artist doesn't deserve label support. All the while maintaining a palpable bitterness at the artist for not being able to release consistently. That's insane. Everyone who extends grace to her or still sees her potential to get rid of her team is delusional. That's the main thing I have always resented about some so-called Normani fans on ATRL. The moment anyone says they believe in her it's "trolling" or "problematic". But not them, with their incessant negativity. Makes me question what it is they even like about her at this point? She's not entertaining them so they've settled for making her the intense focus and singular object of their complaints. Kinda sick.
AFullMoonlight Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Now here’s something to talk about. Is he talking about the motivation girl? https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRad4pYr/
wildsidenormani Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Seeing the Tresemme content is odd because I know she’s never used their stuff a day in her life. That stuff fries the absolute life out of your hair But a cheque is a cheque at the end of the day and it’s not like miss girl is doing much else
TheFlyingRobot Posted September 16, 2022 Posted September 16, 2022 Does anyone know anything? I can't believe how quiet it's gotten. Maybe they're working on something behind the scenes because they have legit gone ghost.
cliche_display Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Did anyone else read the pleadings about DWAS? The plaintiffs bring up Normani’s team a lot more than Sam which I find odd

I'm trying to understand the thought process. And do you think this alternative route makes it easier, or harder for her to release? The Cracker Jill collab came when Fair was released. I don’t necessarily think she needs a brand deal in order to release something, however, it’s a marketing strategy for many artists to get their faces out there while also putting out music. The brand deal often gets them interviews where they can talk about the product + their own venture. Cracker Jill got her a lot of interviews, including a Good Morning America (I don’t remember exactly). They don’t really invest in MV budget, unless it’s a paid promotion for the MV exclusively (WS had one, a Whiskey?). Her label is the one who loans her money to execute her music business, but we can be sure that they’ve been holding her budget after Fair’s underperformance - we know that for a fact because she hasn’t shot Candy Paint MV till this day, and the only reason I can think of, is because of lack of money to do so. There could be other reasons, but she was claiming real hard a new song would be coming in May, she was sure she was going to put it out, then suddenly they stopped her (froze the budget). It’s not really about making it harder/easier, it’s just smarter from a business point of view. Many artists do this when releasing music. 15 hours ago, cliche_display said: Did anyone else read the pleadings about DWAS? cliche_display Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 (edited) So the legal complaint alleges that Brandon might have given derivative ideas for DWAS to Sam and Normani that he got from his connections to people at Avex House and Thrive Music. The complaint alleges that Brandon was intimately involved in spreading the alleged infringed material. Aka a song called Dancing with Strangers published in 2015 and allegedly shopped around the industry until 2018. However, Brandon is not named as a defendant in the complaint probably because he doesn't hold DWAS copyright. He just gets commission through Normani's share of income. I hate Brandon. That claim doesn't make sense unless both Sam and Normani were lying about how the song came about. Anyway, I don't think the case will go anywhere The complaint alleges that Sam lied about that. Here's the excerpt: " Although Smith has publicly claimed that he wrote the Infringing Song in a day in August 2018, giving the impression he wrote the song from his own creativity, this is not consistent with how he and his team typically create music. 76. In reality most of the songs he “writes” are collaborative efforts, as indicated by the five credited authors on “Dancing With a Stranger,” including defendants Eriksen, Hermansen, and Napier. These collaborative writing efforts typically include using preexisting pieces of music to create songs. 77. The songwriting process used by Smith and his team is relevant to how the Infringing Song was allegedly created, especially where existing music is typically used by Smith and his co-authors to create new songs. 78. For instance, Smith and Napier wrote a song in or around 2014 called “Stay With Me.” The melody was highly similar to Tom Petty’s famous “I Won’t Back Down,” leading to infringement allegations by Petty against Smith. ... Although Smith (dubiously) denied ever hearing the famous song before writing “Stay With Me,” there is little doubt that his co-authors and team had heard it and that it influenced the writing of Smith’s song. 80. Restated, Smith does not typically create songs on his own and by himself as he often states and implies, but instead the original musical ideas typically come from other sources. 81. The significance is that Defendants’ songwriting process discredits Smith’s public statements implying he wrote “Dancing With a Stranger” in a day, and also indicates that preexisting music (i.e. Plaintiff’s Song) was used to create it."

Yes, I believe the release of Fair was timed to "take advantage" of the Cracker Jill publicity That deal was on brand for Normani though since Bab's father was a national baseball player. Fun fact 4 hours ago, popularmoonlight said: we can be sure that they’ve been holding her budget after Fair’s underperformance This doesn't make sense to me. Also seems anachronistic. They were tight with the budget before that because as we know she financed the Wild Side video herself a year before. And WS is now multiplatinum eligible, largely thanks to its 100M+ video views 4 hours ago, popularmoonlight said: we know that for a fact because she hasn’t shot Candy Paint MV till this day, But she shot the video for Fair already according to multiple insiders (including one who works for Sony) and Candy Paint doesn't even look like it's getting released. On top of that look at Mulatto. RCA put out a video for Lottery after it initially flopped on the charts and did nothing. It only took off once they ramped up promotion. Then Latto's album flopped but they keep pushing her anyway. Normani has generated bigger hits for RCA than Mulatto did before Lottery. So I can't buy these theories. How could Fair underperform? It did exactly what you would expect a downtempo r&b single from an artist with just one other solo song to do with no promotion. I have to laugh.
brraap Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 @cliche_display you’re truly insufferable. You can make theories about Normani being pregnant (???) yet call others who have genuine questions about the trajectory of her career trolls. Go outside
