September 4, 20242 yr comment_26449810 The critical reception is not surprising at all (and I'm sorry, if you thought this was going to be received like ASIB despite several members who saw the first film warn you that it's gong to be divisive, that's on you) but I am sooo curious how this is going to play out in the box office. It doesn't seem like the OG fans may like this version, and despite what mother says, it is a musical through and through. But Gaga has the draw, has the attention so maybe it will still smash after all? Sad OK, I'm not expert in this field by any means, but I think a lot of you misunderstand what "supporting" means in the context of movies. It is not "lesser than", it is not "well, you weren't good enough for leading". It's not "you wanted lead but you have to settle for supporting". Supporting is just about the type of role/character someone plays in the film. If Gaga is supporting, it's not "sad", it's just how the movie utilized her (sad for us, but not sad overall) character. Gaga would've known ahead of time she was supporting if this is true and it looks like she didn't mind.
