And several of the dates on said stadium tour were delayed for two years, which makes it even more impressive. I really hope that she has the drive to make this era the event that Chromatica was planned to be, she deserves that.

It would be really funny but I also don't think she'd want to publicly criticize her publisher?

 

Woodkid also posted the devil emoji and I'm not certain if they have an affiliation with UMG.

 

EDIT: Though an important promotion channel, TikTok also not the only way to market an album.

No way. She literally just promoted Ari's single on TikTok while the UMG mess is going on.

I'm pretty sure that was AI or a cover version  but if that's a successful way to get around the UMG ban, then I'm all for it tbh

uh yeah and she literally poked at the UMG situation in that same tiktok comment section. someone said ”not the bootleg version because UMG pulled all music” and she answered it joking back. the audio she used was not the real song for context 

It seems like the single isn't coming until March.

Yeah, this UMG vs. TIkTok situation will likely blow over when it starts hitting the pockets of the biggest artists, and/or the Haus will get creative with marketing on TikTok. 

 

My feeling is UMG will cave. Whether they like it or not, TikTok is colossal and it's not a good look on UMG that TikTok has successfully negotiated with other publishers.

If big artists with huge followings can't release their music because they can't get their music on TikTok, then we might as well give up and destroy the entire music industry at that point.

I understand your point but if LADY GAGA can't release her single because of the TikTok mess (when she can still promote it on the platform using AI or whatever smart they can come up with) then nobody in UMG under her star power can release their project and that's simply not happening, because everyone and their mothers have release dates planned in the coming weeks 

 

It is certainly an unpleasant situation, but it's no worse than COVID lockdowns and social protests, and even then (without any promo) we got a #1 single and #1 album
