Reading the discussions here and it’s important to note that she said the album will have a lyrical theme more than a sonically one so don’t base the whole era on the lead single. 

 

“It has a lyrical theme, more so than sonically. There’s still a sonic element as you go through it, it’s still pop. I still want to dance and do another crazy tour. It’s a bit more mature [than FN] I think in terms of the experiences.”

 

 

I want a Crying For No Reason-esque ballad bop from her this era 

The doom & gloom from insiders in the single thread has me a little worried. It can’t be that risky of a song.

It's not a risky song per se, just a tiny bit risky as a lead single after FN, i would say. It's a good song and still very much a sound you would expect from Dua.

I love that it's risky. You don't become a top dog by playing it safe. It will pay off hugely in the end just like it did with DSN.
