@swissman not being Swiss... baby you should've kept the illusion

I don't really care about the promos & strategies and what not but I enjoy reading the lashings :suburban:

However if those music videos don't come she will never hear the end of it

Does Beyoncé still **** with Justin Timberlake? He was all over the self titled album but haven’t heard of them together ever since. Is Chris Martin her favorite white man? I always liked her better with Justin stay mad.

Justin is great and they have good chemistry. I don’t think he deserves any hate whatsoever. Man of the Woods is a great album.

I don’t care about the promo if she gives us the live album, that’s all I really care about. She already covered the costs and is making profit from the movie with the seats she already sold, and the international tickets will come anytime now.

Bandwagon praise and bandwagon hate have always gotten on my nerves, so I can say with my chest that I've not used Justin since the Janet drama in '04.

For that reason, I've long side-eyed most who've affiliated with him when they've done it...including Bey. As, in a world before social media existed, artists (more than the fans) will have been much more hip to the hypocrisy of his treatment compared to Janet's but still went along with it because he was popular/in.

Not to say I expected any of them to speak up per se, but the glaring misogynoir at play would have made me steer clear as a Bey, Jay etc. JT's double down remarks about Janet and Prince (Black icons) in Give It To Me would have made me avoid at all costs too. But it's a political game and most acts with longevity know that keeping their flame hot after a certain point requires playing ball with the scorching act at the time. That being Justin. Jay especially is no stranger to this, hence him heavily pushing the Justin affiliation around 2012/2013.

The odd undeniable bop aside, I have generally found JT to be a culture vulture and not as talented as touted (something his solo Super Bowl highlighted for all to see).

The fickleness of these "friendships", which our fave is not above, is telling in how little The Carters have associated with Justin in this present climate. One, in which they have centralized their Blackness, as such his now mainstream image as a culture vulture doesn't quite..."align". Similarly, isn't it telling that the moment he gets musically cold, that's when the Carter affiliation ends?

This ain't even to slight Bey or Jay too much, as the game is the game and sustaining in music is about way more than the music itself. It's power plays, aligning with the right people at the right time, and kinda coldly, disconnecting when it no longer serves. It is what it is.

Hmm I don’t know. Beyoncé was professionally on good terms with JT during DC days, before the SB and she remained so after it.
She doesn’t have to embrace hatred. People have their beefs and their life situations, she doesn’t have to take sides in it.

Jay did wait for JT to be really hot. Even when Bey was associating with him before, he deemed him unworthy and even refused to feature on his songs. But that has never been Bey’s case. She has nothing against the man, nothing she’s done proves so. He produced in only one of her albums (Mostly because of Timbaland too) so I don’t see why the fact that he hasn’t been involved since then is a proof of anything. They were never linked outside of professional work. I’m sure if the occasion presents itself, she would perform or work with him again. It’s not her job or duty to hold grudges for decade-old situations or to judge that one of her peers is less talented than portrayed.

We don't really know her friendships. Age and families change things -- someone you may have gone out with twice a month in your 20s could be someone you consider just as close in your 40s but you only see them for dinner twice a year.

The only two people I feel pretty certain she's distanced herself from for sure are Kanye and Gwyneth. Kanye for obvious reasons, but Gwyneth never mentions them anymore and hasn't gone to any of their shows or events in years.

as much as I dislike JT for being corny, he helped with Blow and Partition so he’s not entirely useless

True, but I was speaking moreso about her public and career affiliations.

The Carters (collectively) leaned in heavy with the JT thing for a minute (from performances with Bey to writing on ST to those lil Grammy moments to the whole joint tour with Jay). It was a lot.

For all we know, their kids may go to the same school and they may be the best of friends. But in terms of brand association, they have factually moved away from him...and I don't think it's a coincidence.

it could be as simple as they're up there and he's not as hot career-wise, so bye bye. Or his culture vulture positioning doesn't align well with the "Black prosperity" that has become central to The Carter brand. Or both. But it's definitely a "something" because I cannot imagine a scenario where JT was slaying now in the way he was in 2013 and The Carters not milking that the more. More collabs, more joint moments, more tours even.

I think you’re getting her confused with Taylor, who actually promotes, has a deep connection with her fans, has the world/media wrapped around her finger, and tons of commercial and critical success. :biblio:

I'm not. All those things I mentioned apply to Beyoncé as well. You don't need to have in what you've listed for what I said to be true.

While I think they (she) is aware of general feelings about people in regards to who she collabs and associates with, isn't the last time either have had any meaningful association in 2013, or 2014 if we count releasing Partition (which features his input on Yoncé) as a single? How would that explain them distancing themselves from him after that and now?

Even in 2016 when Can't Stop the Feeling debuted at #1 on the Hot 100, spent the first ten weeks at #1 on the Digital Songs Chart and spent an entire year on the Hot 100...I don't remember either Jay-z or Beyoncé doing anything with him at all during that time.

this.

I'm not about caring for missed opportunities to make $50 million not $25 million...that doesn't do anything for me as a fan, nor does it even contribute to her legacy in the slightest aside from making a nice headline for a day that only the Hive will care about.

Not having a live album would really be the upsetting thing, because that's a way to cement the tour beyond needing to watch it on whatever platform it lands on after being in theatres and it ACTUALLY contributes to her legacy.

Plus, she seemed committed to great, live vocals first and foremost this time, and we deserve to hear it !!!!!

I love hearing all your well written thoughts on my subjects. Thank you everyone!!!! Very insightful especially @Cbreezy

With that said @ShouldersSideways mentioned that they’re certain the Carters distanced from Kanye. I actually think they’re still friends but on the LOW. They have no choice but to stay close or he will lash out again and air out all their dirty laundry. I believe they went to dinner with him a year ago in private but no pictures were seen. Kanye posted his review of Renaissance on instagram a few months after it came out so he doesn’t hate her like I’d expect him to if she completely cut him off. They (especially bey) like cbreezy said are very strategic about their publicity. I can’t imagine what Kanye would say next if they dropped him. I’m surprised people quickly forgot how he said Beyonce refused to perform unless she won the vma award for best video (formation) over Kanye and Drake. Which would make sense because Drake seemed to throw sly shots at Beyonce (and basically ever famous person tbh) since then even though he gave her the Heated sample. Even Jay liked an anti Drake tweet. Drake then boycotting the Grammys made me go hmmm. Maybe there’s more to it than we know. I do think you can cheat your way into winning at most award shows but the Grammys are 100% legit in the main categories imo.

At first, I was sure the live album would come at the same time as the movie, but now I'm worried we'll have to wait for a few weeks...

It just came to me when I realized that other movie didn't come with a live album on streaming platforms... :dancehall:

AMC might want to maximize the replay value by forcing the fans to come back to see the film once again.

What do you think she'll do?
