5 Mil From the bottom half of TTH to the bare bottom at #48? That's not bad.

Imagine what it would have done in the top 10-20 of its debut week like you'd expect-

It's surprising they started it so low actually. I thought something like this would be given priority on TTH coming from a big budget Atlantic movie soundtrack with two buzzy artists

So my only complaint would be Spotify editors not giving this DC/Warner Megan x Normani lead notable playlisting.

They would never place those mediocre pale girls like that.

In fact, there are 0 African American women in the top 20 of Today's Top Hits despite two songs by a black woman being top 20 on the Hot 100

Halsey has a white parent and a half white parent so perhaps there is 1/4 black women in the top 20.

Do you celebrate that lack of diversity as well @TalkThatRihanna ?

They can try a dozen Camila promotional duds in the top 20, but not a song for a big movie  soundtrack with two rising black female stars?

Fishy. They did the same thing to Summer despite her prominence on AM. And they were really brief with Lizzo's Good as Hell. Also very conservative with Normani's Motivation although this got even worse first-week positioning than that.

The data says, the skip rate, the length of play, yada yada it's bull****. That playlist is influential and anything influential becomes political. You shouldn't have to pass a paper bag test to get a chance at the top of these playlist that make everyone else's songs tick. YET....

Deserved, I guess. It's not really IT. This is not what I expected for a BOP lead. Hopefully the rest of the album knocks though like the SS album.

Hmmm. I’ll be surprised if urban radio really jumps on board with this....come to think of it what has Normani released that’s geared towards urban radio?

not everyone has that. :clap3:

its only making room for Megan's next single.

so what I’m getting from this meltdown is that it was placed on both TTH and RapCaviar and barely reached 5M in a week

Perhaps the takeaway is that placement matters and that the song did well despite them not being white or male enough to receive proper placement for a lead movie single?

Did it get RapCaviar? That wasn't in my post.

Bo$$ got a tiny bit with 5H and they sent a remix of Love Lies with Rick Ross that urban overlooked.

Megan has Urban radio hits tho.

I dont think this has been pushed to radio. They didnt even bother to push it well on Spotify or YouTube

Maybe they're waiting for the soundtrack and movie release or maybe this was a teaser for the Doja song

It's not that good so I'm not surprised it's not a hit

It's okay.

Tons of songs aren't good, but because media crams them down our throats

fans pretend they're very good and successful, even when they're not

They don't deserve a top spot on TTH if they don't have enough pull by themselves to do even 1M on the first day despite multiple big playlists adding them. It didn't do well by any definition of the word :heart2:

And yes it was close to the top 10 of RapCaviar and still flopped, wonder what excuse you'll come up with for that?

That Waves song couldn’t have done well on urban radio at all...where did it peak? I never heard it outside of streaming it and watching the video.

I know Meg gets urban radio play but her presence there isn’t enough for them to pick up this song off the strength of her name alone. Granted, I don’t listen to radio much but outside of Love Lies (which let’s be real is due to Khalid) I never hear or heard Normani on that format..and her material thus far isn’t made for that audience. I just feel like she’s wasting all her momentum looking for a pop/crossover hit and she’s gonna get Tinashe’d, meanwhile that audience she’s overlooking is literally rooting for her but she’s giving us nothing to work with. It’s sad to watch

Not everything is about race. The song is trash. If anyone else had released it, it would still be trash

Let's unpack some of the lies and ignorance you're pushing.

Rationally speaking

1. Placement matters. It's delusional to deny that.

Test: Would you volunteer your fav to debut low on the pl like they deserve

that is, until they prove they have a hit?

2. You're a liar. It started the week at 27-30 on RapCaviar and was moved off

You fabricating the position probably means you understand at least intuitively the importance of placement.

You're not delusional.

3. Of all 4 new songs added to TTH, it was the only one that debuted in the bottom half.

Based on your argument, how could those songs earn higher placement without a single stream? There is no evidence to refute that high initial playlisting doesnt make the hits that get it.

The problem is it would require too much attention for us to discuss the details of placement, so why dont you just keep throwing bitter tantrums there about someone pointing it out and keep pushing that fallacy about what it deserved! Lmao. It's the LEAD SINGLE for a big budget female action flick. Not to mention Normani co-led on one of the top 10 most streamed songs from last year, and just did 150M streams from the bottom of TTH solo. It  deserved to start in the top 20 at least, but probably could've used top 10.

4. I cant help you. Dont quote me again.

It didn’t do even 1M first day. With or without playlist support, that’s a giant FLOP

Liar was trash and it debuted top 5 of TTH

My Oh My same thing but debuted in the top 10

Tons of songs are trash, but get high initial TTH placement

This song isnt, but if it were, it would still have even more streams with that kind of premium. Dont change the subject

-There are zero black/African American women in the top 20 of TTH

-Summer Walker had the number two album, debuted half a dozen tracks on the Hot 100, but had 0 songs in the top half of TTH.

Of course her songs did nothing on Spotify but soared on AM.

HDD wrote a blurb about how Spotify curators missed the boat on her.

-Lizzo has two songs on the top 20 of the Hot 100 and 0 songs on TTH at all

There is a pattern. Spotify can help to break a song or to bury it. They do not make much effort to break black women from what I've seen.

Stop acting like you know what you're talking about when I can guarantee you probably dont pay attention to manhy black female artists, and maybe precisely because they aren't given a lot of exposure

There's always one user who brings out the race card in every Beyoncé / Normani threads. Like, imagine how tired we are.  :rip:

If  I tell you "The sky is blue because blue light is scattered in all directions by the tiny molecules of air in Earth's atmosphere," that  is an explanation.

When I tell you Spotify streams are a function of playlisting placement, that is also an explanation, one observable in the charts.

Spotify Flopped on the soundtrack lead from a major motion picture  by sticking it at the bottom of its big playlists, but it still did 5 million streams

Deal with that statement without lying or being delusional

Idk maybe it wasn't high priority.

Who cares at least Normani "made noise" with her #33 peaking SOLO single Motivation, that was just supposed to be a gift to MTV. Normani can retire and still have the legacy of her dynamic features and the "noise" she made :clown:

the heart of privilege is being tired of honest discussion about observable patterns
