Yeh. Individual format charts are based on spins. For overall, it kinda does make sense, basically using audience rather than spins "weights" each panel according to their estimated listener impact. Within a panel, that's not really an issue.

With this week's BB Top 40 Airplay out, here's Closer's updated trajectory,

 

 

28-19-15-10-7-5-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-4-4-4-4-5-6-6

 

So, that's 26 weeks on the chart, 25 in the Top 20, 23 in the Top 10, 19 in the Top 5, 13 in the Top 3 (it spent 4 weeks at #4 though), and 11 weeks at #1. This week makes 23 weeks in the Top 10. It needs 3 more weeks to reach 6 months.

Shawn's singles are always a slow burner. They took forever to smash...even though I thought Mercy was completly done.

Endless payola from Interscope.

 

Doesn't seem to be paying off considering that it's missed the top 5 on the Hot 100 - a first in many years for songs that have topped overall airplay.

What were they expecting? The song is horrid. 

Maroon 5 have been going down when it comes to quality ever since they released Moves Like Jagger, despite it being a great song.

These labels need to stop wasting money on this.

I agree with you here.

 

I guess Interscope still sees them as one of their most profitable/successful acts (which is true), so they'll continue to support them no matter what. However, they just need to move on to single #2 at this point. The sales and streams aren't really anything to suggest that people are still here for this song.

There's something they recorded with Future (:toofunny2:) but I'm not sure if it's the official second single. I'm a little surprised that they haven't even announced an album title or release date, yet.

BTW, was Kendrick removed from their track?
