Actually, she and Kenny Rogers are embarking on a farewell tour this year (he's retiring), which means it's everyone's last chance to hear Islands live. It actually topped the Country Chart the same two weeks (very rare in the early 1980s) as it did on the Hot 100.

In 2000, Lonestar's Amazed crossed over to mainstream radio and topped the Hot 100 the same week that the band's Smile topped Country. I don't know if any artist can replicate that feat again, especially since Swift is once again going for another all-Pop album. She really doesn't need to burn her bridges at Country like this, as artists there have far longer lives than those of "Pop Girls."

i don't care about kenny rogers. i saw her perform it last year, front row

Yeah. I like her better than him too. We FINALLY agree on something lol! But, I would like to see them sing the duet live one last time. Also, last fall, Parton raised money to give everyone that lost their homes in the Smokey Mountains fires $1000/month for six months. She is from Sevierville/Gatlinburg, TN. The fire was across the street from Dollywood. But fortunately the park, as well as Ripley's aquarium with 55,000 animals, escaped the inferno unharmed.

Also of interest to many on here, she was the first Country artist to take a stand in favor of gay marriage. And, I think I read she contributed a song to a movie about a person undergoing a sex change. No other artist at Country could've gotten away with Parton's pro-LGTBQAI stance and still be loved by everyone at that format. Times are (very) slowly changing there. But Parton, I guess in this case had the breasts (not the balls lol), to take a stand unpopular to many Country music fans regardless of the consequences to her career.

Carly Simon's You're So Vain is down to #168 now. It contains the line "Then you flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia to see a total eclipse of the sun."

Nearly 45 years after the song's release, she finally admitted the song was about the egocentric and narcissistic Warren Beatty. He was, and probably still is, an a--hole. He would probably actually qualify for the "c" word.

Friends is proof Bieber's formula has gotten stale.

I would think in Nashville the eclipse was close to 100%. Here in Tampa Bay, it was 80%, and outside just looked like you were wearing sunglasses when you weren't. In Birmingham, the eclipse was 92-93%. Mom said it just looked like she was wearing sunglasses there.  I'm sure it was still darker there though, as the temperature fell 3 F (1.8 C) degrees for that hour. Even here in Tampa Bay the temperature dropped 2 F (1.1-1.2 C) degrees.

Edit. Nashville was indeed 100%, and the temperature fell 4 F (2.2-2.3 C) there. I'm sure the sales and streams were huge up there, and that the airplay was phenomenal on all formats. Tyler had scored a T 15 Country song with Heartache in the 1970s, so Country probably would've played the song too.

It was 100% here! It was incredible. Had thousands of people on this lawn at Vanderbilt watching the eclipse! They played "Eclipse" by Pink Floyd at Vandy but no other songs related to the eclipse.

Incredible album. Isn't it nearing 700 weeks or something else ridiculous on the BB200?

I didn't realize that Bonnie was #1 on iTunes.  I heard that its sales went up but I didn't realize it was that much.  Good for her :clap3: The best two hit wonder ever.
