13 weeks

Flo Rida featuring T-Pain – "Low" (2007–08)

Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars – "Uptown Funk" (2015)

The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey – "Closer" (2016)

12th week is secured for Despacito this Monday..2 weeks more for it to break it.

So three songs have spent three months = 13 weeks at #1. UF sold the most of those three though.

Who has the record for the longest #1 in Hot Digital Songs?

Can Despacito break it?

I actually think Sam Hunt is going to break the T 10 weeks record on HDS. This coming week should be #25. That ties (or just barely beats) Low and Uptown Funk. However, from what Friday teenage said, Call Me Maybe and Radioactive actually hold the HDS T 10 record. Without BB Biz, I can't look up that answer easily.

So is despacito

The difference, my dear, is that "Despacito" started smashing in the US 3 months ago (when the song was 3 months old)... "Súbeme La Radio" is 5 months old and has already peaked in AI (it has already lost 10M AI). Moreover, "Despacito"'s original version always charted inside the iTunes top 200 since its release, something "Súbeme La Radio" hasn't done. So, not even the same scenario.

If the Justin Bieber Remix was released when Despacito was 5 months old it would have also gone number 1 and you know it.

You said that song is too old, when the truth is that singles from outside the US that break there usually take more than 5 months to be successful there. I'm not saying that Subeme la Radio is going to be a hit tho, just saying that it being 5 months old doesn't mean anything.

It does mean something when the song has already LOST 10M AI and hasn't cracked the top 100 on iTunes since 4 months ago :toofunny2: Why would Justin Bieber or any other big artist would participate on a song that has clearly peaked and flopped? :ace: At least "Despacito" was top 50 and getting new peaks on BB when Bieber got on the track... "Súbeme La Radio" has no potential whatsoever.

I sure hope you don't Stan Bieber...

Another iconic battle will be the race to 3 billion views

See You Again

Expected to hit 3B: 08/2/2017

Despacito:

Expected to hit 3B: 08/3/2017

I feel like Despacito will snatch SYA's wig first despite a day behind in expectation :jonny:

Media news will report it again as first music video to hit 3B if it happens = free boosts. :rip:

i kinda hope despacito will slow.

i want that scenario:

  • see you again reaching 3b
  • despacito reaching 3b
  • despacito dethroning SYA

in that case despacito will have to events to free boosts

if it will reach 3b and overtake see you again - media will do this in one article.

Will he be in a few years though :eli:

I know this isn't a UK chart thread, but does someone know why Wild Thoughts dethroned Despacito in the UK. Despacito is still selling 2X Wild Thoughts (combined) and outsreaming it on spotify (and Youtube too).

wow, isn't despacito around 100k in recent weeks? it's interesting how it's still a struggle for a release to top it for just an hour.

eta: for the main version.

The fact that I've never heard Despacito in full

Don't question it. Just be happy.

But Wild Thoughts did dethrone it on Spotify today, for future reference.

But Despacito is still number one combined on spotify, and even if it isn't combined the solo version still outsells and outstreamed

Despacito still number one on US and UK itunes

Some new rules where streams are counted less if a song has been out for a certain amount of weeks (i think it's 10).

Oh I totally forgot about that. Thank you, I had absolutely no idea why Despacito was #2. That doesn't seem fair for the number two song to be selling more than two times as much as the the number one song :cm:
