Because it's unfair to judge an artist with 3 albums worth of songs vs an artist with just one. If someone is a fan of either of them, it's best to look at both as legitimate artists diverging into different roads of pop music. In the current music business environment Tate is a stronger songwriter than Addison hands down, which becomes more evident when you look at the album tracks vs the singles. This could be because of the more diaristic confessional era of pop songwriting we live in, which is probably why Tate appeals more to the public and is more popular in general. But I don't think Addison is intending to be confessional in that same way. Addison has her own merits. She understands the references she is utilizing and uses them well. It doesn't feel like she is disingenuous, just a real student of whatever she is interested in. It seems that Tate crafts her songs and imagery based on who she is at that given moment not necessarily a costume or aesthetic being purposefully put on or chosen. It's similar to artists like Taylor (for a majority of her career), Olivia and Ariana. Apart from Taylor switching genres, they all usually craft the imagery of the era after the album is made. They aren't intending to do a 180. Addison seems more conceptual and purposeful- as if playing a role. This is more similar to Gaga and Madonna. It's quite obvious why the gays like one style more than the other.

Out of those artists, Twigs is the only one that could be up to par with Tate's technique. Twitter gays are funny because they want dancing in pop but then they have general disrespect to dancers and backup dancers while insulting an artist they don't like. Tate has been well known in the competitive dance community for most of her preteen/teen/adult life, similar to Maddie Ziegler. That's why so many dance girls/guys respect her because she has put in the work and years of practice that they have. A random gay man who has never taken a technique or ballet class has absolutely no understanding of that community other than maybe watching it through Dance Moms. They are not the people she appeals to which obviously doesn't matter considering her success despite their ranting.

There is a lot that goes into it but Twitter gays love Addison partly because she emulates Britney from like 03-08. I think it's odd to mimic the time where she was at her messiest and was obviously going through hell but they love it. Tate is more so Britney from 99-02 and they can't relate to that polish. Tate also has fans around her own age that are women and younger girls. Look at her crowds at festivals compared to Addison. She's not making music to directly appeal to 30yo+ gay men in Bushwick. You can decide which has more longevity but Addison does not have a dedicated base.

Yes. The sound quality is like night and day for me. There were whole albums I didn't really care for that I ended up actually enjoying listening with wires again. There's a reason why the people who actually make music dont care for bluetooth. It's the epitome of convenience over quality.

I'm tired of all hate honestly. 10 years or so ago, when communities were more contained, things could pass as jokes and sarcasm on social media. Now it just comes across as "LOOK AT ME! I can be angry/funny too! See!" as a ploy to get a hit tweet or to publicly place themselves on a side they believe is morally correct. The fact that people will actually be upset about a joke that Katy Perry killed a nun or stole an elderly veterans house is honestly insane and shows how things have changed. That nun story was originally talked about with a wink and laugh, not some weird judgement rooted in a perceived morality. It's odd to critique hate for not being genuine, but it's more so the act rather than the feeling. This goes for all female popstars too, with one obvious exception (NM) for reasons she unfortunately publicly accepted and welcomed.

Ironically I do like Gaga way more than Katy artistically. I have seen Gaga live 4 times and Katy only once. However, I cant stand the ugly little monsters so whenever I get the chance to wack them- I will! Gaga is just collateral damage unfortunately. They love to be the morality police as if they are coming from some odd place of arrogance and superiority. They are the complete opposite of everything Gaga preaches yet they can't understand that. Maybe they are just dumb. Or it's from all the bullying when they were younger but my god, it's almost been 20 years.

I'm of two kinds on this. I think she deserves to have a break and do what she wants, especially if she agreed to too much and can't do it all. However this feels… forced. I don't think people who are recovering from something or battling an illness should be shunned from public life and their work- if they still want to do it. The same things happen to overweight people, or famous people who drastically gain weight. It always sounds like "this makes us uncomfortable so it's best if you are out of our view" and that feels gross to me.

Why are you putting something in quotes that was never said? In her interview with Justin Tranter she basically said these were the only songs they made and this wasn't leading to any album. She's only ever cared about making money? And other artists don't care? Gaga, who was born into wealth, does a commercial for a pharmaceutical company and sells her own concert footage to them. Footage we were waiting months to see. Talk about being money hungry…

Tyla took too long to release the album and some of her promo was weird. Apart from pop fans and weird Rihanna fans who are out to get her, the public doesn't really care about album titles or cover art so it's not that. The winter and early spring months were really dead with big female releases so if she had the songs ready, I think late february or early march would have worked out just like it did for Tate the year before.

I'll say this to not cause any further animosity- I wish Katy was at least more well respected currently so that even her okay/good work was checked out and got some traction. What Katy and Gaga were able to create in the early 2010s was truly magic and timeless. It was akin to the 80s and 99/2000- a pivotal point in pop music that is still relevant and influential today. Anything they release further, no matter how good, will be incomparable to that moment.

I actually would say everyone's lack of "attitude" is the reason why people think her and many popstars are boring nowadays with little personality. Back when Rihanna debuted- her, Katy, Gaga etc were all pretty shady amongst each other following in the likes of Madonna, Whitney, and Mariah. Being mean and nasty is one thing, but having some playful shady moments really colored in personalities and connected them as peers. That doesn't really exist anymore because of fans and how social media has manipulated everything. They all are more closed off and conservative because of fear. If this were 20 years ago, I think she would be leaning into being a little bitchy sometimes and she would have more fans. I know that sounds silly, but it's true. It has felt like her, Olivia, Sabrina, and Tate are holding back their thoughts and opinions to the detriment of us getting to know them. Chappell has come the closest to being honest but look at how she's treated when she does.

Kelly Clarkson and Kesha overlooked yet again. And if you want to be generationally misogynistic, where is Cyndi and Paula??? For real though, are men just not considered popstars anymore? Because they have had just as big of failures that are never highlighted like this.

All she did was make money off of gossip, lies and stoking the fires of fights between others. When she was doing drugs on her radio show she was worse, which is why Whitney, Mariah etc all hate her. Unless we make money off of hateful gossip then yes, we are better than her any day of the week.
