Billboard Greatest of All Time Billboard 200 Albums as of 2015, No Katy, surprised?
Ironically I do like Gaga way more than Katy artistically. I have seen Gaga live 4 times and Katy only once. However, I cant stand the ugly little monsters so whenever I get the chance to wack them- I will! Gaga is just collateral damage unfortunately. They love to be the morality police as if they are coming from some odd place of arrogance and superiority. They are the complete opposite of everything Gaga preaches yet they can't understand that. Maybe they are just dumb. Or it's from all the bullying when they were younger but my god, it's almost been 20 years.

Are you a teenager or something? Because you are constantly just posting about Katy. I don't understand how you could be actively employed anywhere. Probably better off for all of us though because you are a weirdo. Can't imagine ever interacting with someone like you in real life. Yuck.

Katy Perry taking a break: "See you when I'm ready."
So she lied when she specifically said she didn't have anymore songs or plans for an album?

Tate copies Britney again
so... every single pop star ever is not an artist then?

Ariana to take break from public after tour, drops out of 'Sunday in the Park'
I'm of two kinds on this. I think she deserves to have a break and do what she wants, especially if she agreed to too much and can't do it all. However this feels… forced. I don't think people who are recovering from something or battling an illness should be shunned from public life and their work- if they still want to do it. The same things happen to overweight people, or famous people who drastically gain weight. It always sounds like "this makes us uncomfortable so it's best if you are out of our view" and that feels gross to me.

Katy seemingly ends the droplet era
Why are you putting something in quotes that was never said? In her interview with Justin Tranter she basically said these were the only songs they made and this wasn't leading to any album. She's only ever cared about making money? And other artists don't care? Gaga, who was born into wealth, does a commercial for a pharmaceutical company and sells her own concert footage to them. Footage we were waiting months to see. Talk about being money hungry…

HDD Final: Olivia #1 80k, Morgan #2 77k, Charil #3 74k, Strokes #15 30k, Tyla #43 17k
Tyla took too long to release the album and some of her promo was weird. Apart from pop fans and weird Rihanna fans who are out to get her, the public doesn't really care about album titles or cover art so it's not that. The winter and early spring months were really dead with big female releases so if she had the songs ready, I think late february or early march would have worked out just like it did for Tate the year before.

Katy = 43 days in Spotify Global Top 10 solo, Gaga = 27 days this decade. Surprised?
I'll say this to not cause any further animosity- I wish Katy was at least more well respected currently so that even her okay/good work was checked out and got some traction. What Katy and Gaga were able to create in the early 2010s was truly magic and timeless. It was akin to the 80s and 99/2000- a pivotal point in pop music that is still relevant and influential today. Anything they release further, no matter how good, will be incomparable to that moment.

Spotify: Tyla's A*POP 2.7 million 3rd day
I actually would say everyone's lack of "attitude" is the reason why people think her and many popstars are boring nowadays with little personality. Back when Rihanna debuted- her, Katy, Gaga etc were all pretty shady amongst each other following in the likes of Madonna, Whitney, and Mariah. Being mean and nasty is one thing, but having some playful shady moments really colored in personalities and connected them as peers. That doesn't really exist anymore because of fans and how social media has manipulated everything. They all are more closed off and conservative because of fear. If this were 20 years ago, I think she would be leaning into being a little bitchy sometimes and she would have more fans. I know that sounds silly, but it's true. It has felt like her, Olivia, Sabrina, and Tate are holding back their thoughts and opinions to the detriment of us getting to know them. Chappell has come the closest to being honest but look at how she's treated when she does.

NPR: "The Shelf Life of a Pop Star (Katy Perry, Lizzo)"
Kelly Clarkson and Kesha overlooked yet again. And if you want to be generationally misogynistic, where is Cyndi and Paula??? For real though, are men just not considered popstars anymore? Because they have had just as big of failures that are never highlighted like this.

Throwback to Wendy Williams predicting the future of Madonna & Katy Perry
Im sorry but this revisionist history over Wendy just because she is publicly unwell now is insane. She's not a good person and nobody other than her weird catty fans would disagree. All she did was make money off of gossip, lies and stoking the fires of fights between others. When she was doing drugs on her radio show she was worse, which is why Whitney, Mariah etc all hate her. Unless we make money off of hateful gossip then yes, we are better than her any day of the week.

Beyoncé and Mariah release and write with The Dream despite rape allegations. Why?
Well I guess if she's accused of abusing and peeing on a 14 year old then Gaga can defend her against the media and being "misunderstood"

Beyoncé and Mariah release and write with The Dream despite rape allegations. Why?
I have a real job. I didn't bring Gaga up. I was responding. Next time call for a doctor instead of a nurse, preferably a psychiatrist for yourself.

Beyoncé and Mariah release and write with The Dream despite rape allegations. Why?
I'm still dumbfounded Gaga is on video defending R Kelly in interviews. At least Katy wasn't dumb enough to do that in 2024.
-
Beyoncé and Mariah release and write with The Dream despite rape allegations. Why?
Because they don't really care. They never care about stuff like this unless they can insult an artist they don't like.

TikToker compares the current situations of Gaga and Katy, is right?
I really hate how we constantly compare them but never go back farther than their debuts. Gaga and Katy had VERY different upbringings, especially when it comes to privilege, wealth and education that obviously shaped their decisions and careers as adults. Katy still admits she's self conscious about her lack of formal education.

Spotify Global #1: Lowest streams in 4 years
Idk maybe they just released a new batch of their lovely AI/fake music that keeps filling their playlists so they can double dip and take a portion of artist revenue.

Katy Perry - "Watch It Burn"
I agree that her "fans" response to this is nonsensical and just mean spirited, but I really dont think the public just doesn't care for her at all in general. If that were true there would be other signs that would coincide with the underperformance of the song. Her back catalog would struggle- even her hits, she wouldn't be able to tour or headline festivals, her name wouldn't garner news - positive or negative. This is more so a failure on promotion and her team which that blame could be passed on to whoever. People love to bring up Spotify and TTH but always fail to acknowledge that their business is shady. They accept bribes and "gifts" - which let's be real if Katy herself wanted to pay to be on that playlist she has the money to. But if an editor or several dont care for her, or she pissed them off somehow, they can just choose to never include her. There's not much she can do about that other than have a huge hit they cant ignore. The problem is they help control what is and isn't a hit now. It's even worse if they were ever involved in fan wars (circa 2013) or have their own biases. A pop song needs to be heard by people who wouldn't choose to listen to it or that artist. I didn't hear great things about recent hits like drop dead or htimylm when they released, but they are hits because of the exposure they got. If an artist is cut off from that, of course it wont work for them in the same way. Also she makes pop music. Fans will always have some commercial expectations, even if they need to be tempered.

TB: Janet skulldrags Madonna & endorses spanking children in 1993 SPIN interview
I love Janet but in what world was the media treating Madonna with kid gloves? Especially after Erotica. They were pretty nasty to all popstars in the 90s which is all well documented with the internet so… And Michael had his own issues but he also was treated differently for being the "king" and a man. Like his lip syncing is rarely talked about but female artists are constantly criticized for it.
