ADÉLA would be a perfect opener. her and Demi have been interacting so much lately and i feel like it's bound to happen!

i agree with you that she could definitely see success with touring this era, even if in smaller venues! she's hinted towards more choreo and dancing which could make it more of a visual spectacle. as for the Island is broke narrative, i think that was a more realistic argument back around 2021-2023. now they have huge artists like Sabrina, Chappell, and Olivia Dean under their roster. she's better off going completely independent at this point and channeling a similar career arc to Kesha - who also had a pretty successful tour this summer!

prefacing this by saying i'm a huge Lovatic who really enjoyed the album, but i'm sure her team + label are very upset with this given all the effort they put into giving her image a complete 180 this past year. it was inevitable that streams would be low given that there's no viral single, but the fact that HOLY **** outstreamed??!! i get that it has 5 more songs and 29 had it's moment, but this is a very accessible and lighthearted dance pop album and should have easily outperformed - even if just by the slightest margin! this time around she also has all the Jonas Brothers reunion + Camp Rock 3 buzz surrounding her. while Lovatics may find the genre shifts and versatility endearing (myself included!), it is clearly extremely jarring to the general public. just 3 years ago she literally shaved her head, got a spider tattoo on her scalp, and made a full rock album denouncing the feminine standards put on her as a pop star. now she presents as hyperfeminine and is making upbeat poppy dance music? even though this era isn't that deep, casual listeners approaching the album may find it hard and confusing to wrap their heads around.

Kesha and Halsey have the bigger hits and peaks, but Demi has had more longevity and i'd argue she's the most recognizable name of the three across multiple generations (whether it be for good or bad reasons lol). Demi also has worked with or received acclaim from legends in a way that Kesha/Halsey haven't.

props to her new management because this is easily the most good will she has had with the GP since early 2020, right around the time of the Super Bowl National Anthem and when I Love Me dropped. this is all building up to a perfect opportunity to make a real comeback and get a hit!! i'm envisioning a summery dancey-housey-r&b vibe for the lead, though i hope it's something more inspired than Euphoria (which i found to be very basic and below Demi's artistic capabilities).

i think an argument can be made that Espresso is bigger culturally/commercially than any of the tracks on SOUR... but SOUR as an album is definitely much more recognizable than Short 'n Sweet. the deeper cuts of SOUR are all recognizable, moderate hits whereas Short 'n Sweet deep cuts ("Coincidence", "Dumb & Poetic", "Lie To Girls", etc.) are not very known or recognizable.

short answer, yes. long answer, i think her fumbling the comeback (and the DWTDTAOSO roll out as a whole) was actually good for her? it's very clear from Holy **** and Child Star that she no longer wants anything to do with being a pop super star, and as a fan, it's clear she is NOT fit for that lifestyle either. now she can just release passion projects for her core fans when it makes her happy and still experience moderate success.
