  1. Bingo. His career will be short lived if it’s reliant on gimmicks/try-hard “shock” value.
  2. I mean, this is a music forum. We talk about all pop music. So not really.
  3. By degrading Christian imagery, he is selling “look at me, I’m edgy!” but mocking Christians isn’t edgy, it’s the safest options (Christians are the most persecuted religious group worldwide). So lame.
  4. You’re right. Pop stars mocking Christianity to appear edgy is the safest thing they could ever do. If they want to actually be edgy, they would mock Islam or Judaism, that would actually be controversial.
  5. Yes and it’s disrespectful for Swifties to compare Taylor to Michael Jackson, who never played it safe and whose cultural impact can be felt in all areas of music today. Taylor charged a lot of money to see The Eras concert. Swifties will throw money at everything she releases. She’s on a billion-dollar tour and charged $20 a ticket to see her concert in theatres. Capitalism gone wild.
  6. Taylor sells a lot of music the same way McDonald’s sells a lot of burgers and French fries, but legacy matters more than sales.
  7. This was a highly contestable decision by TIME. Few would dare argue that Taylor Swift is as important as world leaders and business giants worth hundreds of billions of dollars.
  8. Can’t wait to hear his new album.
  9. Just like Madonna, Gaga has a Golden Globe for both acting and music. That’s impressive, good for her.
  10. Madonna has won two Golden Globes. In 1997, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture for Evita. In 2012, Best Original Song for W.E. One for acting and one for music. She has had 7 nominations in total.
  11. Hopefully the music sounds better than this cover looks.
  12. She should consider an extended break (5-7 years). It would be good for her.
  13. Barbie, then Renaissance. Can’t think of anything else that comes close.
  14. Is this really someone the new generation should be looking up to?
  15. Exactly. Which is why her response (she seemed bothered af) makes no sense.
  16. I have seen the video version and I didn’t detect any bitterness. Taylor should just lighten up. What does a billionaire care if someone jokes about her at an award show anyway? She’s still good.
  17. Taylor Swift appears to be unrealistically popular on here. Somehow she has more fans than bigger/better pop stars (Madonna, Gaga, Beyoncé) despite being less appealing to gays (and doing nothing for LGBT rights).
  18. They weren’t sitting there stone-faced, I can see several smiles/smirks/grins in those pictures. Are you for real?
  19. The entire audience was not the subject of the joke. The joke wasn’t funny. No one is suggesting Taylor should have burst into a fit of laughter. I am just saying her response came across as stiff/bitter, and isn’t a good look for her.
  20. Taylor Swift takes herself rather seriously for someone who releases songs like Shake It Off, Bad Blood, Me!, You Need To Calm Down, Karma ft. Ice Spice.
  21. How was it trashy? He was poking fun at her overexposure. Let’s take off the stan goggles and face reality: she is overexposed. Taylor looked so bitter by reacting that way. She should learn to laugh at herself and not take herself so seriously. Her marketing strategy is relatability, does she expect to be treated like a goddess? The joke was harmless. This makes Taylor look bad.
  22. Ok but can we talk about how effortlessly massive a musician Lana Del Rey is? Imagine if she had even 5% of Taylor Swift’s ambition. To answer the question, Rihanna has a lot more hits than Nicki and just did the Super Bowl.
