No, it depends on the job. A lot of “service” jobs such as waitering or bartending allows employers to legally pay their employees below the minimum wage (which as you may guess is already ridiculously low), because they counter it with the fact that most of those people will be receiving tips throughout their shifts and that would balance out a healthy wage. Problem is if people don’t dip, then those workers essentially are receiving nothing. Other problem is if the price of goods and services continue to skyrocket with inflation and stuff, people are less likely to tip. It’s the same in Canada.
