This. Katy needs to call up Bonnie McKee and Ester Dean (she wrote Firework and many of Rihanna's hits). Katy needs to team up with Max Martin, Ilya and Cirkut on production. And Katy needs to DUMP Sarah Hudson, who hasn't really done **** for Katy's career lately ... songwriting-wise.

I have a few thoughts. Some in response to your comment and some other semi-unrelated, general comments. This will be a little long since I barely post here, but here I go if anyone cares to read and engage. On Bandaids: I've seen a lot of people say that they prefer Bandaids, which, okay, but this is a much better song than Bandaids. Bandaids is way too one-note with grating vocals by Katy, and this is coming from a Katycat. On WIB: Such an improvement over Bandaids, but it still falls short for me in some areas. The chorus is too choppy and elementary. I think the verses are actually better. I was expecting heavier production/heavier guitars on the second chorus and adlibs galore ... maybe even layering with an octave above (which she did, although very briefly). So the distinction between the first and second chorus wasn't that noticeable, which makes the song feel a little samey and stagnant. I do like the chanted outro at the end. However, I was expecting a bigger chant or ... not necessarily louder per se, but I thought we would be able to hear a group of people chanting in the background kinda like Teenage Dream. There's actually a YouTube video, for anyone interested, of a Dr. Luke interview way back then where he played the journalist a snippet of Teenage Dream ... specifically where they chant "you make me feel." Anyway, that's my gripe about the chant. So to recap on WIB: Great verses, not enough adlibs, no bridge, choppy chorus ... I also forgot to mention that Katy's vocals (at times) sound a bit shrill. And this is going back to Bandaids, so it's definitely happening during the production of the song and not the mix, since the song is mixed by Serban Ghenea. He's like the top mixing engineer that all of the top pop artists use. On where we do go from here: I thought WIB was definitely not bad. I'd give it a 6.5-7 out of 10 because I think Katy can do much better. Bandaids was a 4 for me. I did not like that song at all. I personally don't think that the two songs we've heard so far are good enough to justify working with Justin Tranter and crew for a FULL album. Sorry. I do love a pop rock sound for Katy. But in order for it to be done properly, I think she needs to go back to Max Martin, Ilya and Cirkut. An album produced by this trio would slap. Last point: I know a lot of people have been clamoring for an acoustic album. Honestly, I wouldn't be here for that. I'm probably in the minority when I say that. I would be open to a pop rock album if produced by Max Martin and crew like I mentioned earlier. But please don't k*ll me when I say this, I loved Witness. It's a top three Katy album for me. Maybe top two behind Teenage Dream. So I wouldn't be opposed if she were to work with some of these unknown produced (to me, at least) who produced Method to My Madness, Deja Vu, etc. I love Witness so much. But given how it marked the decline of her pop stardom, I highly doubt she would return to this sound. The last thing I think she should do right now is an acoustic album because it's so niche. Not everyone would be here for that, so I think she should save this album for later in her career. Sorry I typed an essay. I'm very passionate about Katy and her career. You guys can drag me now lol.

I love this album so much. Unfortunately, she's lost me as a fan after that album. I want pop from her, not R&B. And I think that lack of consistency has destroyed both of her pop and R&B fanbases, which is similar to what happened to Doja this era by doing an 80s-inspired record, which I actually think is her best album to date. But I also think Witness is one of Katy's best albums, so maybe I have exotic taste that's not for the masses lmao.

It's such a shame, tbh. I was never a big Doja fan or a fan of Jack Antonoff (still not really a fan of his), but this album maybe me look at them differently. Even though it's not my most replayed album, I still go back to it from time-to-time. I quite like it. When Jealous Type came out last year, I was really hyped for the album because it's fantastic. But i can see why her rap fans were turned away from this more melodic-style album.

As much as I want the album now, based on what we've heard so far, this is like a summer record. It wouldn't make sense to release it during winter. Maybe mid spring?

I love Kim, but let's be so for real. Me saying that her career is "in the gutter" was half joking, half serious. Maybe a lil flair. But an "extremely successful artist" is such a stretchhh. I don't typically like comparisons, but for the sake of comparison, Slayyyter, who's a similar type of artist, has surpassed Kim in terms of fan engagement and anticipation.

Lmao ok She owes the limited success she's had to her dedicated fans. Not updating the fans as to what's going on (even if it's a subtle acknowledgement) is a slap in the face to those who've been patient and faithful because it makes her true fans feel like they've been taken for granted. Sorry you don't see it that way, but a lot of people do, hence the frustration.

It's really hard being a bunhead when she doesn't seem to give a f*ck about her fans. I mean, at least update the fans with what the hell is going on. It's just been complete silence with no release date announcement, nothing to look forward to. Her career is literally deep in the gutter. I've been following her. Staying tuned. But she's starting to lose me. At some point, people move on...

Exactly. Just how some Twitter post went viral a while ago claiming that Fergie was returning to the BEP. We're still waiting for that reunion, hunni.

This. She was my absolute fave, by far, but her voice is shot. I'm not sure what the album would sound like. However, if she's been working on her album over the last few years, then maybe there are some old enough songs on there where she does have some of her old voice? We shall see.

They might be songwriting juggernauts, but not production juggernauts. They don't have many hits to their names in terms of actual producing credits, not songwriting credits. I'm critiquing the production, babes, get it right.

Not only that but her vocals sound a bit too shrill. I wanna like the song so bad, but I can't. I know that I'm gonna get clowned for this, but if we were to put Dr. Luke of it all aside and the lyrics aside, in terms of pop music production, Woman's World is the better song.

I used to be the biggest Leona fan. Not anymore, sadly, due to her Hashimoto condition, which apparently has completely destroyed her voice. I'm surprised she got the Vegas gig to begin with, especially considering she can't even sing anymore. Everything is in falsetto. She can't belt if her life depended on it. I've never seen a condition affect the voice that severely ... assuming Hashimoto is truly to blame.

I feel like I was misled when I read that Max Martin, Cirkut and Greg Kurstin were involved in the production of this song. When the song was released, I immediately checked the credits and did not see any of those names on there. Instead, I saw names I haven't seen before, and I asked myself, "Who the **** are these people?" Anyway, I am a Katycat through and through, but I have to be honest. This was a chop for me. It's not bad per se. But it's not a song that I want to keep replaying. I'm not sure why Katy didn't go to Max or Cirkut or whomever instead of those nobodies (no offense to them). Katy could've even gone back to Charlie Puth. I'm lowkey angry at all these decisions, but whatever, it's her career. I would've even settled for Jack Antonoff lmaooo. Anyway, I'm worried about her next project if she's gonna continue working with these new people.
