10 Years Ago: Natalia Kills dropped her 2nd album Trouble. Thoughts on it today?
It's clearly one of the most underrated pop album of all time ! The prods, the lyrics, her voice and even the videos are amazing ! Trouble, Malboro Light, Saturday Night, Watching You, it's sometimes dark but also very pop with Problem or Controversy and Television. I still want her to have a resurgence or a mercy from the GP ! This album deserves way better and Natalia Kills / Cruel Youth / Teddy Sinclair too https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2022/09/underrated-pop-album-natalia-kills.html

Ciara - 'CiCi'
How we Roll is the only "big" hit according to me. Forever is good but not that huge. Not sure Lil Baby will help her to get a charts entry. 2 in Luv and Type a Party are good slow jams. They remind me "Body Party" and that's the best part of the EP Winning sounds exactly the same that what we heard before

Ciara - 'CiCi'
This is not a bad EP, "How we Roll", "Low Key", and "2 in Luv" are cool and the R&B energy is fire but why she is always making songs like "BRB" and "Winning" ... Her main problem is that there is no consistency in her music ... btw here is my review : https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/08/critique-ciara-se-la-joue-nostalgique.html

Anne-Marie - ‘Unhealthy’
It's a good pop album ! I love the concept of love songs and mental health. It seems very cool and sincere of her. Some songs in the middle are a bit boring, but there are some strong hits on the projects. "Trainwerck", "Cuckoo" and "Never Loved Anyone Before" are pretty good ! I think it's probably my favorite album from her at the time. My review https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/07/critique-anne-marie-chante-lamour-fou.html

Rita Ora - 'You & I'
Damn ! It's hard to say because I loved "Phoenix" so much in 2018-2019 but "You & I" is the most boring pop album of the year so far ! The 3 opening tracks (the singles) are the only thing i loved , the rest is just meh not bad but sleepy af My review https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/07/critique-rita-ora-chante-son-bonheur.html

Kim Petras - 'Feed the Beast'
Not the album of the year but damn it's a good album pop album ! Nothing new on the productions but she gives us want we want to hear. KOH, HFTB & CITS on repeat ! Still not a fan of "Alone" and Unholy but I forgive her. my review https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/06/critique-kim-petras-bouillonne-sur.html

Donna Missal - 'Revel'
This is not a bad album; I love her, and I'm so happy that she is able to pursue her way as an independent artist, but for me, this album is way too linear ! Almost all songs sound the same except "Paranoia.".. I'm a bit confused at the moment. my review https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/06/critique-donna-missal-repart-zero-avec.html

Becky G f/ Omega - “Arranca”
Don't want to be rude, but her good numbers in France are just there because she gets a good playlisting. Arranca is 2nd of the Future Hits playlist on Spotify.

Kesha - 'Gag Order'
EDIT ! Listening to it since yesterday and still a masterpiece but am I the only to hear "White Mercedes" by Charli XCX on "All i need is You" ?
-
Kesha - 'Gag Order'
This is PO-WER-FUL !! What a brilliant and wonderful artist she is now ! She's been through a lot but she uses it to create a masterpiece. I think I love everything single second of this new album ! OMG, I can't wait to have the vinyl of it ! My review https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/05/critique-kesha-en-electron-libre-sur.html

Bebe Rexha - 'Bebe'
I've listened to the album yesterday, and it's a "good" album. I mean it's not the album of the year, but there is a real consistency and according to me, it's probably Bebe's best body of work so far. btw, I'm still hating "I'm Good" and "Born Again" is a bit boring, but the rest of the album is good. There are a few bops on it (Visions, Blue Moon). Yes, It's so disco inspirited (thanks Dua) but she tried her best and I hope she will receive more charts attention with this one. My french review https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/04/critique-bebe-rexha-veut-reconquerir-la.html

Donna Missal - 'Revel'
Lighter was one of my favorite album during the covid-era and her debut album is a smash but her new direction is losing me what's the real her ?
-
Lali - "Obesión"
It's sound a bit like "morenita" from Upa Dance but I love it !
-
Ellie Goulding - 'Higher Than Heaven'
As I wrote in my review (https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/04/critique-ellie-goulding-plus-pop-que.html) if her name was Dua Lipa this album would likely be a streaming bulldozer worldwide ... Mainstream POP is a mess Ellie and this album deserve more please ! #Justice

Ellie Goulding - 'Higher Than Heaven'
I've listened to the album a few days ago for my media and this is one of the best pop album that I've listened to this year ! Productions are good and catchy. There. is pop, alt-pop, disco-pop ! This is so good and it deserves way better than this chaotic promotion ! Her voice sounds AMAZING from the beginning to the end. Very unpopular opinion here but I absolutely love "better man" ! This is not what we are expecting from her but this is so so good ! buy it and stream it once is out please ! My french review here https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/04/critique-ellie-goulding-plus-pop-que.html

Becky G f/ Omega - “Arranca”
The real problem with her career is that she's still under contract with Kemosabe aka Dr.Luke even if they had a fight for a contract years ago. I think she is, (just like Kesha) stuck into a machine way bigger than her ... Fortunately she seems to be in peace and she is still allowed to make some music ... "Arranca" is good but she will never be a A-list like Rosalìa or Karol G I wrote a post about this for those who want https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/03/becky-g-la-verite-sur-sa-carriere.html

Lana Del Rey - 'Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd'
I finally listen to the album ! First of all, she is one of those who still made (good &) real albums in the pop industry and this is just a smash to listen to her body of work. Then, there is a real consistency in her career since "NFR" and even if she lost some fans on the road, she continues to create with her own vision of music ! It deserves nothing but RESPECT I really appreciate the whole thing but "Paris, Texas" and "Peppers" are masterpieces. I love her more when she takes some risks ! Here is my review (FR) https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/03/critique-lana-del-rey-did-you-know-that.html

Kali Uchis - 'Red Moon In Venus'
I received my vinyl earlier today and this is the perfect medium to listen to this album. By the way, back to the album cover question, I really prefer the picture on the inside, even if the "Butterly portait" is a good thing too.
-
Miley Cyrus - 'Endless Summer Vacation'
I had to listen to the album twice in raw because it's absolutely not what I was expected from her now. To me, it's like a step between "Younger Now" and "Her Dead Petz". She's giving us pop-folk and some very good alternatives productions ! River is my favorite so far at the time but, Muddy Feet is also amazing ! FR review https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/03/critique-miley-cyrus-surprenante-sur.html
-
Kali Uchis - 'Red Moon In Venus'
She is A-MA-ZING , there is no other one like her on the pop-scene She's giving me exactly what I want from her. Sensuality, dreamy prods et smooth voice ! It's going to be one of my favorite album this year !! I could burn for Endlessly FR: review https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/03/critique-kali-uchis-deesse-de-lamour.html

Ellie Goulding - 'Higher Than Heaven'
I just saw the video of her saying that's is going out on April 7th This is a damn joke at this point ! Everything is ready and as you all said, the digital version can be put out right now... no matter what it's done for this album... The previous album was already made with recycle materials so her team was aware of the timeframe for productions ... As I wrote on my blog, I think it's definitely her last album with Polydor. I really think that she will go indie then (for the better I hope) https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/02/ellie-goulding-leak-conflits-et-si.html

Shania Twain - ‘Queen of Me’
At first play, I was like ok, this album is good or at least not that bad. But weeks after and except "Giddy Up!" and 'WUD" there is no replay value for me FR.Review https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/01/critique-shania-twain-veut-rattraper-le.html

RAYE - 'My 21st Century Blues'
I'm really rooting for her since the very beginning but despite the success of "escapism" the streaming numbers of "m21cb" are very low-key, the album is good but she deserves so much more than a tiktok attention btw, here is my review of the album : https://the-melting-pop.blogspot.com/2023/02/critique-raye-saffirme-avec-talent-sur.html
