  1. also not her teasing a flashdance finale choreo scene and then just doing some more mj impressions
  2. she could audition to play britney when she's in the white blazer and hat doing the mj moves. her lower face is v similar, especially w that hair and the blue bikini outfit. the resemblance goes when she takes the hat off tho so no biopic stardom for her song is a bop, body is unreal, but she's at risk of suffering from madison beer syndrome (looks too much like an influencer turned musician, even if she's not) if she doesn't establish a a more singular visual identity than very pretty blonde girl. and the bleached brows have got to go.
  3. bad romance and the fame monster changed my life and my entire attitude to music. the music video for br genuinely lives in my head, rent free, to this day
  4. ok to be fair he was/is also extremely famous in australia (and probably nz) and i imagine a lot of the other commonwealth countries. so technically he'd be more global (especially if india/pakistan stanned) than local but again, i'm just guessing. still can't believe that somebody invested that much money into a movie about him as a monkey tho like... that's wild. edit to add: and he can still do crazy big tours because, like most men who were heart throbs at one point or another, he can still draw on all those female fans who are still lowkey in love with him. also he was super famous for a long time - first in a boyband and then as a solo act (have none of you seen derry girls jfc educate yourselves!)
  5. i feel like this is going to be heavily influenced by age. crazy in love was already an established classic to me when poker face came out, so to me it's always going to feel more... classic. on top of that, while poker face may have been her biggest hit by the numbers, i feel like bad romance was really the song (and tfm the era) that pushed gaga to the next level in terms of relevance. it would also beat cil on the music video front, just barely. anyway, let's all hold hands and agree that telephone is a classic in every category!
  6. wish they gave this much respect and consideration to other alt-pop girlies but i get it, it's a really good album and she's had a consistent, highly respectable discography since her debut. the actual reviewer was doing way too much tho, calling 24hr dog a bottoming anthem? and perfect stranger suddenly = gay cruising? like girl perfect stranger is a universal club experience (also clearly influenced by twigs' own experiences/interpersonal relationships and also possibly a reflection on fame and how we idolise strangers) and if 24hr dog is about anything specific it's bdsm which is definitely not exclusive to the gays(TM)
  7. ngl i was worried about how hard she was committing to this whole acting thing with no actual acting projects out, but a whole production company? that feels like a real easy way to squander whatever $$$ she made from brat :/ fingers crossed she turns out to be a great (or at least good actress) and a24 come through for her on this solo project.
  8. the albums are similar in that they are overhyped for what they are and both artists have way stronger releases in their catalogue. also many lyrical similarities between the two, not to mention the initial and totally misleading marketing of them both as throwback rave albums (like wtf was that all about? anyways...) ANYWAY eusexua unfortunately loses by default for: a) wanderlust which bffr sounds like a b-side from hold the girl and y'all ripped rina to SHREDS for exactly this kind of cornball balladry. b) the decision to include a super controversial high profile child star (would have thought twigs would be all over the f'd up power dynamics involved in child stardom but apparently not) when she absolutely did not need to. and i actually loved north's part but the criticism still stands. eusexua also loses points for referencing 'lights on' which just reminds the listener of the infinitely superior lp1. so yeah, it's a great album and i'm really enjoying it but so far brat>
  9. this is quite possibly the dumbest way to compare the relative success of albums i have ever seen. literally why would they publish a list like this (for clicks is the depressing answer i guess) when all it's going to do is confuse people? like yes it makes sense that a weekly music chart ranks albums #1 #2 etc without caring how big the gap is between those two or what the overall market looks like. but to collate all that data and pretend that a billboard ranking from 2024 = a billboard ranking from 2014 = a billboard ranking from 2004? when every one of those data points is influenced by an entirely different market (streaming vs itunes vs cds) and an entirely different number of relative sales/streams??? they honestly couldn't have introduced more confounding variables if they tried. Anyway Adele #1 forever in our hearts and BTD honorary runner up morgan wallen flop wouldn't recognise him on the street wouldn't know his song if i heard it
  10. well every (semi-sensible) rich person under the sun will have increased their personal security ten-thousand fold and will be limiting their public appearances rn for obvious reasons... but the muskrat is not a semi-sensible person so who even knows atp?
  11. it's america. it's not about convincing people to vote for the other side, it's about subtly encouraging them not to vote at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ worked amazing for the anti-kamala campaign~
  12. yeah would love to see these numbers adjusted for inflation (ofc not that that would change the ultimate outcome ). would be so interesting to know how many people attended also but i doubt that kind of data is out there.
  13. just popping in to say it's crazy impressive that madonna held the record that long, especially for a tour held during a recession
  14. i imagine it's harder for established singers to change the habits of a lifetime compared to kids who have turned up to learn. one of my favourite artists had to completely relearn how to sing 10 years into his career after developing nodes on his vocal chords (required surgery). he got a vocal coach and the improvement was insane. & i swear i didn't mean to come for katy two comments in a row but it does sound like this lady could help her with her yaaaaaaas~
