Miley Earns First Billboard 200 No. 1 in More Than a Decade With 'Bass Persuades'

miley-cyrus-mert-alas-press-billboard-18

Miley earns her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart in more than a decade as Bass Persuades debuts atop the list dated Oct. 3. It launches with 61,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States in the week ending Sept. 24, according to Luminate. In total, it's her sixth leader and 16th top 10-charted set. Miley (aka Miley Cyrus) last stopped the tally with Bangerz in 2013.

Of Bass Persuades' 61,000 first-week equivalent album units, album sales comprise 47,000 (it debuts at No. 1 on Top Album Sales), SEA units comprise 14,000 (equaling 14.22 million on-demand official streams of the set's songs) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum. The set's first-week sales were bolstered by its availability across 16 vinyl variants (one with a bonus track), nine CD variants (one with a bonus track), six download variants (most with bonus tracks) and a cassette.

Miley is the third act in 2026 to wait at least 10 years for their latest No. 1, following Bruno Mars and A$AP Rocky.

Riley Green gets his first top 10 on the Billboard 200 as That's Just Me debuts at No. 3. It launches with 60,000 equivalent album units earned (his best week by units). Of that sum, album sales comprise 29,000 (his best sales week; it debuts at No. 2 on Top Album Sales), SEA units comprise 30,000 (equaling 30.89 million on-demand official streams of the set's songs, it debuts at No. 10 on Top Streaming Albums), and TEA units comprise 1,000. The album's first-week sales were boosted by its availability across 13 vinyl and CD variants (some with bonus tracks), two download editions (one with a bonus track) and a cassette.

Beabadoobee nabs her first top 10-charted project as Pylon arrives at No. 7 with 35,000 equivalent album units (her best week by units). Of that sum, album sales comprise 25,000 (her best sales week; it debuts at No. 3 on Top Album Sales), SEA units comprise 10,000 (equaling 10.79 million on-demand official streams) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum. First-week sales were aided by the album's availability across 10 vinyl variants (including signed editions), three CD variants (including a signed edition), two cassettes and a download.

Ella Langley's 'Choosin' Texas' Extends Hot 100 Record With 24th Week at No. 1

Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas" adds a record-extending 24th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. A week earlier, the song solely claimed the mark.

Here's an updated look at the longest-leading hits, ranked by most weeks spent at No. 1 on the Hot 100, since the chart began in August 1958:

  • 24 weeks (to date), "Choosin' Texas," Ella Langley, 2026

  • 22, "All I Want for Christmas Is You," Mariah Carey, 2019-26

  • 19, "A Bar Song (Tipsy)," Shaboozey, 2024

  • 19, "Old Town Road," Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus, 2019

  • 16, "Last Night," Morgan Wallen, 2023

  • 16, "Despacito," Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber, 2017

  • 16, "One Sweet Day," Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, 1995-96

"Choosin' Texas," on SAWGOD/Columbia Records, with Triple Tigers having overseen promotion to country radio, totaled 22.3 million official streams (up 2% week over week), 57.9 million radio airplay audience impressions (down 1%) and 9,000 sold (up 55%) in the United States Sept. 18-24. The track holds for a 24th week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs; dips to No. 3 from its No. 2 high on Radio Songs; and continues for a 19th week atop Digital Song Sales — where it overtakes BTS' "Dynamite," from 2021, and "Butter," from 2020, for the longest reign in the chart's history (which dates to the mid-2000s).

Most Weeks at No. 1 on Digital Song Sales:

  • 19, "Choosin' Texas," Ella Langley, 2025-26

  • 18, "Butter," BTS, 2021

  • 18, "Dynamite," BTS, 2020-21

  • 17, "Despacito," Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber, 2017

  • 16, "Old Town Road," Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus, 2019

  • 15, "A Bar Song (Tipsy)," Shaboozey, 2024

Morgan Wallen's "Last Thing You Need" debuts at No. 9 on the Hot 100. Released Sept. 17, it accumulated 14.4 million streams, 1.2 million in airplay audience and 5,000 sold in its first full tracking week. Wallen adds his 21st career Hot 100 top 10. Dating to his first, "7 Summers," in 2020, he boasts the third-most top 10s this decade, after Drake (55) and Taylor Swift (45).

Tame Impala and JENNIE's "Dracula" repeats at its No. 5 Hot 100 high. It tops the multimetric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for a 38th week and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs for a 20th week, while topping Radio Songs for a second week (62.6 million, essentially even).

Yasss im so happy for Miley This #1 represents Platic Hearts, ESV & Something Beautiful

  • God I'm so happy for her. This woman debuted 20 years ago and she's STILL able to debut in the top 3, let alone #1, even at her lowest commercial point, without stepping foot on a big stage in years.

Yasss im so happy for Miley party

This #1 represents Platic Hearts, ESV & Something Beautiful alexz3

Idgaf how close this was and how many variants it took considering how often she was lucked out of the top spot or the top 10 in the past with legitimate classics like We Can't Stop, Party in the USA, TTOOL EP or 23. Also this was the first album her team even used any of the tactics to that degree that all her peers have been using for at least a couple of eras now AND she came from her least successful album ever (besides the #SoundCloudExclusive Dead Petz), so yaaaaaasssss mileyyyyyyy

God I'm so happy for her. This woman debuted 20 years ago and she's STILL able to debut in the top 3, let alone #1, even at her lowest commercial point, without stepping foot on a big stage in years. Her longevity is impressive no matter how you slice it.

I'm also happy Atlantic fought for this, it seems like they are genuinely supportive of Miley. It's what she deserves!
