Shimmer deserves to smash. One of the best pop songs released in the last year tbh. Rest of the album is pretty solid too I hope she's really proud of the song and especially music video, because she absolutely nailed it

just had a full on menty B to lifeboat, completely bawling my eyes out. when that voiceover hits, it hits. i don't remember ever being that emotional to a song before. Gonna have to listen to the rest of this queen's discography now

I'm shocked and feel so terrible for all involved. Something similar happened to my family growing up and I don't think anyone was ever the same. She is going to be wrestling with trying not to sugarcoat her truth of their relationship yet also trying not to color her kids' childhood memories of him by saying things. She's also going to be in a position of trying to help her youngest not forget someone that she had such a hard time with. If this was going on for 3 years, I can't help but wonder if this is part of the reason she didn't really include anything too fiery on her last album. He would have already been battling it for 1 year at that point 🥺😥

Throwback to one of her (former) label executives making me leak one of her songs on YouTube so they could cancel it and delay her project I hope she goes somewhere else and gets a second wind

I was there during this time period, so I can add some context. Mike Caren had a special A&R office in Hollywood with recording studios and he owned a publishing company called APG that he put on the floor below Atlantic. Sermstyle who produced the beat was signed to APG, and the Atlantic studios above were used pretty heavily for APG writers/producers. Pitbull used to be there all the time (very nice btw), because a lot of his hits during that period were written/produced by APG artists. I also think you all are misunderstanding what she said about vocals - she was brought in to sing some background vocal stacks which can be very tedious, so they very often made the songwriters do that instead of lead artists. Also, the people she mentioned are notorious for pulling that type of stuff, so keep in mind that what she says they told her about Kesha's vocals/range was probably just an excuse they gave her. It isn't her trying to shade anyone. They made people change songs/lyrics all the time because they wanted to and blamed it on random things. Last thing, but the people she name dropped are the same ones responsible for most of the Bebe drama and monster vocals, along with tons of other stuff. So anyway, I'll go back to lurking but please don't do too much on either of these talented women who have both been through it. The fire should be directed at that weird label / publishing company set-up that they used to pressure a lot of people.
